Although, it's called a museum, with entrance fee of 3BRL, this is more a think jungle like urban park populated with tropical animals.
Unlike the zoos, here several animals roam free.
Some cute rodents are spread out throughout the park and popup once a while for everyone's delight.
I was hoping I could spot the sloths but they camouflage themselves with the tall trees.
The park is not only worth for the animals but also for the massive trees that form a canopy above the park.
The park also contains a small museum.

If you are in Belém, you must visit this Museum. It is in the middle of the city and it's a place where you can have a taste of the Amazon. There you can see not only some animals from the Amazonian fauna, but also those large trees everyone see on TV. I do recommend it.

Not just a museum, but a huge botanical garden-like facility with wildlife roaming free about the park, and animals rescued from the region. Hundreds-year-old trees, two leopards, one giant alligator and two smaller ones (but still huge), aquarium, serpents den, turtles, and giant otters. The museum is also a research facility and has other campuses deep in the Amazon jungle where they offer graduate courses and research facilities.
The museum now has a coffee shop and a souvenir store where people can buy arts and crafts handmade by local artists.

This is an extraordinary botanic garden and zoo with Amazonian plants and lots of local animals, including monkeys, parrots, a jaguar, and alligators. We spend a wonderful morning there and I would highly recommend
