Mercado Ver-o-Peso

A amazing market. Very crowded and dirty. Hundreds of black vultures sit on the buildings scavenging on the rubbish. Quite an experience. A very bustling market with many different products from the Amazon.

An amazing place yet really dirty and not exactly safe. I got fake-stabbed by a crack kid who just wanted to let me know that he could have if he had wanted to but didn't, that was nice of him. So I fake smiled and moved on.

It is madness at its best. I enjoyed the food and the options of various things to buy.

Super awesome market with everything you can imagine in terms of food, delicious fruits and nice and honest sellers.
Try Jambou, the local snaps!

Local market for meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, cachaça & breakfast, lunch & dinner and many more. Good place for the tourists also to visit.

The biggest opened market of Latin America. Here you can find everything.

Cultural and beautiful place in Belem, otherwise not 100% safe and clean area. Needs more attention of Belém council

Very unique place with different fruits and many nuts!! Get a table by the water and enjoy the local
food and a cols beer! It is quite the experience! The local people are super friendly and you will for sure have a good time given your expectation is for a very simple and local market.

That's a craziest place in town. Good to see the real life in Belém. Smelly, dirt, crazy but the best site to discover the city. Try and good lucky!! Cheers

Out of this world is the best way to describe .

Amazing market selling a pretty much anything you can imagine a market on the Amazon should sell. From magic potions to fruit you can't name and a food court where everything sizzles, it's magical.... Watch out though, don't flash your camera around, we were warned by locals to keep our valuables out of sight

Such a vibrant market place. If you are like myself and love markets and food then you must visit this place. I recommend the following:
1. Arrive at 5am to observe the seafood and açaí markets. These are done nextdoor and are open air so it is all complete before the blazing Pará sun rises. Get there by Uber and tell the driver you want to see the Açai market. He/she will know exactly. If you eat Açaí then the odds are that it passed through this market at some point.
2. Return again at around 1pm and enjoy 12:00 and enjoy the food served in Ver-o-peso. You will see the fish and Açaí market are gone without a trace. Eat the Paráense food and buy a suca de fruta (suca de cacao is unique).

Amazing place, full of culture and nice people. One must be careful walking there and it is always best practice to have someone from Belém with you to guide you.

It is a big popular market where we can find many types of traditional foods, drinks, condments and others more things like artesanal objects from paraense culture.

A bustling, cramped and very authentic working Brazilian Market. Go in groups with a guide and leave all valuables at home. It has to be seen to be experienced

It is a free fair, therefore not the highest standards of cleanliness, but the nice fast atmosphere...

Big fair to buy and taste any kind of food and fishes from North Brazilian area.
So traditional place to visit in Para.

Amazing place to check the local amazonian fruits, fishes, juices, nuts, etc. An absolutely "must go" place if in Belém.

We enjoyed very much this place. It's real, with popular food and things to buy. Good experience.
