This cultural center is rich. It’s totally not a waste of time. Firstly everything is written in English and Portuguese making it easy for foreigners to read and understand the culture of Brazil and the pre colonial era. It brought back memories of my history class.
Secondly it’s totally free. No appointment needed just walk in.

Really great collection of antique coins. Paintings of slavery in Brazil. Sketches of bird, plants, and fish native to Brazil. It was free, clean, and air conditioned. I loved it.

This small(ish) two floor cultural centre maps the history of Brazil from pre-European times till the present day. A few eye opening exhibits... all in the accessible limits of Paulista Avenue!

The collection on Brazil’s history is beautifully curated and I particularly enjoyed its depiction of natural beauties. The space is neatly arranged and the cafeteria is also good!

It’s great that there is an English narration of the whole brazilian history through the documents that are available here.

This is fantastic. Particularly floor 4 and 5! Really fascinating history of Brazil. At times I felt it didn't take a hard enough line about how bad colonialism was, but it was reflective. The collection is good.

Itaú Cultural is a great place if you're looking for a free museum that has both content and quality. If you have the chance to pay a visit to Brazil's history, do it. It is worth it.
