The church is beautiful and full with the visitors but should be careful about the guy at the parking lot along the street they are asking for 20 reais for every car.

Very old igreja and beautifully designed the architecture is very historical. I recommend if you want to do photography visit on weekdays cause on weekends and especially on Sunday you will found fully crowded. ( I couldn’t get the chance for photography) nice to visit here and see the beautifully historic details inside the igreja (church)

A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world.

It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints.

Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.

I really enjoyed busing this place. We did the 3 ties for 3 wishes. It was fun to explore this area a few vendors out front. Would say this Is a good place to visit, parking can be tough to find.

Good vibe to get your blessings. Given the importance in Brazil you would expect a grand church. It is, however relatively small and simple, but never the less impressive for its significance for the faithful in Brazil. Great photo opportunities with the colourful Senhor do Bonfim ribbons tied to the church gate.

This church in Brazil has a lot of history. If you come to Salvador and don't visit the church, you are missing out. The church has a room full of photos and cast body parts which represent a 'miracle room', Brazilians believe in Saints, and when they get a miracle, they bring a photo or something; that will represent it. The wristbands that you will see everywhere are very famous in Brazil. It means when you tie it to your wrist, you need to make 3 wishes in every single knot, (3 knots, 1 wish for each) when it come loose, the wishes comes true. The church has daily mass and it is beautiful inside. It is a perfect place to go and watch the sunset. Enjoy!

Amazing place to visit when in Salvador. Don't forget to tie a "fitinha do Senhor do Bonfim" on the church's fence

Here is one of Salvador’s symbolic place.
We can see a lot of fita Bonfim around church. And also a lot of fita Bomfim vendors are there. You had better to ignore them.

Visiting on a weekday was the best bet. On the other hand this is a nice historical monument holding stories in every corner of itself. The interior is sculptured in an intricate manner.

Though it is not that close of the mainstream of Salvador's sightseeing, the basilic is indeed a must to see place. It has such a huge and potent energy that will make the extra effort worth it. It's not the most luxurious church one can visit, but the relevance of its history to the locals (and the history of religious development in the entire state) is more than necessary if you really want to leave with the mystical taste that Salvador leaves in all of us. There is no fee payment, and as a plus, you can visit the beaches located on the outskirts. Don't forget to attach your Senhor do Bonfim ribbon on the gates of the church - legends say you must choose the color you like the most and tie it in with three knots, one for each wish of yours. The color you pick will represent the orixá that protects you.

One os the most spiritual experiences on my travels. Getting blessed by the Baiana and leaving my prayers on the ribbons gate gave me more than I was bargaining for. I'm not a religious person but it was a very enlightening experience. Felt very light and relaxed afterwards. Definitely recommend
