Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa.

This was part of a 4 day tour starting in Tupiza and finishing in Uyuni with the salt flat as the grand finale. Amazing landscapes of the Altiplano with it’s lagoons with flamingos and multicoloured snow capped volcanoes. A trip of a lifetime. Only bad point is that the tours all seem to arrive at the stop off points at the same time so the experience is somewhat diluted.

The reserve is located in the southwestern part of Bolivia, close to the borders with Chile and it is a very important protected area. It covers an area of 7.45 sq. klm and it includes the famous Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, among other lakes. In addition, there are two settlements inside the National Reserve, Quetena Chico and Quetena Grande. The park includes around 50 mountain peaks in its protected area, most of which are active volcanoes. It was named after Eduardo Avaroa, the famous Bolivian war hero of the 19th century. The reserve was created in the 70s and extended its protected area in the 80s.

This place is so beautiful that it almost looks fake. There are beautiful mountains, vicuñas, flamingos, thermal waters, geysers and so much more. At night the sky is breathtaking.

Amazing place to take a 4x4. Off rode for 2 days seeing many Volcanoes, geysers, lagoons and deserts of all types. Such a beautiful way to travel to the Chile border. Worth adding to your salt flat tour if you plan on traveling between Bolivia and Chile.

Wow what a surprise I went on one of the 4x4 3 day trips and wow what a surprise this is truly one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Extremely underdeveloped that makes it a photographers dream. the wild life you can see here is unbelievable my favorite being the flamencos. Take a trip from Uyuni, Bolivia or San Pedro, Chile

This has to be one of the most beautiful and surreal places on Earth. You literally feel like you’re visiting another world when you go to this amazing place. If you are visiting Uyuni and the salt flats then you should definitely include this as part of your itinerary. You can see volcanoes, geysers and even pink flamingoes all in the same park.

A remarkable find in the middle of nowhere. A photographers dream. Most of you visiting here will be on a tour. The only hope you can have is that you're not there when everyone else is.

Please watch your step. For some reason a guy dove into the geysers a few weeks ago.

Very barren and desolated place, and yet one of outstanding beauty!

Prepare for an otherworldly trip, huge plains surrounded by snowcapped mountains, Lagunas, volcanic activities, flamingos, altitude, the milky way during the freezing night... Just wonderful!

Mind blowing, surreal landscape stretches for ever. I strongly recommend a visit to these areas for everyone at least once in their lifetime. You will not be disappointed or regret it. One word of caution - altitude sickness can be a real issue as the whole region is higher than 4000m above sea level and can get up to more than 5000m in places. Take medication but also consume sufficient sugar and salt as the local guide recommended to us. It seemed to do the trick for me.

Beautiful park and landscape rough gravel road no facilities. Bring plenty of water and. Vehicle in good condition.

This is an amazingly beautiful place. I did a 3 day tour with a couple of Irish and a Scot and had a great time. The driver and guide spoke little English so I helped with translations. We slept in shared bedrooms and ocassionaly a salt hotel. The landscapes constantly reminded me of a surrealist painting or dream. The vicuñas, the pink, white, turquoise lagoons and the flamingos were very pretty. It is high altitude, so you should be prepared before doing the 3 day trip.

Amazing experience in my life

Its a big national park with alot of attractions. You can travel through this park for days.different laggons from red to green and more. Flamigos main habitat. This also share the border with Peru with sharing half mountains. Geysers to snow covered mountains. Recommended to go with a tour guide

Fantastic landscape from Mother Nature !

The reserve it's the most beautiful place in the anden region. The only thing that it's annoying its the facility of the rangers. The lack of toilets and also the fact that they don't do a proper ranger work.

Colors—and layers of color—are a visual treat in the photograph below of Laguna Colorada in Bolivia. The sprinkling of flamingos and the ripples of the water are the details that make this image and the view it depicts come together.

I had big expectations, but when I was there it was even better than I expected! Very nice spot to visit, a lot of diversity.
