Explora Atacama

Outstanding resort that blends with this unique fragile and beautiful environment. The manager and staff are friendly and helpful. The guides were knowledgeable and pleasant. The cargo vans used for the trips were pretty rough. This is one of the best all inclusive resorts for those who appreciate good taste and a truly peaceful place.

We had an amazing 3 night stay here - totally insufficient considering the Atacama desert is such a huge region to explore. The stay at explora was all inclusive, so all accommodation, food, guided excursions are included. Despite the fact that it is a beautiful property with super comfortable rooms and delicious food, the real reason to stay at explora is because of their exclusive access to certain treks in the region (One of the highlights is the Puritama hot springs). Only explora is allowed to hike certain trails and off these our favorite was the Volcan Blanco hike which was a 7.3km hike at 4400m elevation around the Tatio geyser area - lots of beautiful thermal pools, wildlife while following the warm river. Such a beautiful perspective of the volcanic region in this desert. I wish I had spent more time here! Thanks to all the staff and the guides at explora for making this so memorable for us. 🙌

This was my first time staying at an all exclusive hotel / resort and I am forever ruined (in a good way). They handled everything - from getting picked up at the airport, to facilitating the activities every day, to preparing the amazing food we ate three times a day, they covered it all. The staff and management were wonderful, but I especially love their activity guides. Each activity was thoughtfully created and done in a way to help you experience the local Atacama desert, but with minimal impact to maintain a sustainable environment. There were all sorts of guests, ranging from young to elder couples, families, corporate teams and people like my friends. Explora Atacama is a wonderful place to both relax and seek out adventure.

WOW. What an experience. This hotel is a once-in-a-lifetime find. I can't speak highly enough of all aspects of staying here. The manager, Maureen, took care of all aspects of our stay and was incredibly friendly. It's expensive, and in my opinion, worth absolutely every cent.

We were at Explora Atacama in January and had an amazing experience! It is an amazing place with an extraordinary team activities. Excellent staff that makes every attempt to be accommodating to your needs. Max the manager was excellent to making sure you’re enjoying your stay.

Let me preface by saying I am an avid climber and backpacker. If you love the natural world and want a comfortable home base with amazing food, service and guides, (and star gazing) Explora is the place for you. This is not what I would call a luxury resort by most standards, but it is amazing from an ecotourism standpoint on a high desert. I recommend staying for no fewer than 7 days, but I'd you want to go up to 6000m or see the majority of the area here and experience the culture, 10 days or more makes sense to me. Explora staff are fantastic. They work with you, they care about your comfort and health and are passionate about giving you the best possible experience exploring the Atacama region. I had a lovely time here and while I really enjoy sleeping in my tent under the stars, sometimes it's nice to enjoy a more refined approach to harsh environments as well. I would love to come back and do this all over again--many times. After all, the desert is constantly changing!

We stayed at Explora to celebrate our engagement and it was one of the best experiences of both of our lives. The tours were excellent, the food was superb and the surrounding Atacama desert is another world. This is worth every single penny.

100% recommendation - great service, perfect location, unique explorations and very, very friendly staff! Best overall experience in San Pedro (... and I have been to some other high-end hotels there as well the years before)

A wonderful awesome hotel, great service . The location in the Atacama is splendid. Guides provide wonderful tours, hiking or horse riding. One of best places i have ever been. Its worth going, although it is a litte expensive.

One of the best resort hotel in Chile ! And geared for expeditions. Bring your trekking shoes ! Bar is excellent too!

Hotel maravilhoso! Quarto confortável, cama e travesseiros de primeira. Tudo muito limpo, apesar da poeira da cidade. Comida segue para uma linha mais fresca, saudável e com pouco açúcar. As sobremesas poderiam ser melhores....
