The place is phenomenal. Cafe places are crowded, but they are very lovely. You can find everything over there: cafe places, restaurants, fast food, bars.. etc. It is better to walk around.. don't rely on a car because some streets are very narrow and cars are not allowed there. If you are looking for history, entertainment, and fun time. This is the best place

Totally beautiful this place, surrounded by the old unique buildings typical European style. And it's considered to have a longest bar in the world here. In the evening, the restaurants and bars will be all opened, so make sure come early otherwise full.

Such a pretty square with bars, restaurants and cafes all around its perimeter. It seems to be mostly a place for evening and late night and I've noticed a younger crowd. It is central and all around it there are shops, more restaurants and cafes, and fast food chains.
You won't find parking in the center of Leuven because it's mostly pedestrian so I suggest walking/riding or taking the bus. There are underground parking garages right on the outskirt though but I think public transportation is the best bet.

Great place for a cup of coffee or drink. As every tourist place expect lower quality of food at higher prices

My husband and I stopped for lunch in our way from Amsterdam to Brussels. Very cute market square with shops, cafes and beautiful architecture. While enjoying our lunch we witnessed 2 weddings at the church! We visited on a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful July day. We enjoyed beer and wine along with good food (schnitzel) outside on the patio at Reubens. The staff was pleasant and we very little issues with language. We spent about $60 euros on lunch. Beautiful square with a couple of old cathedrals. It’s nicely lit in winter. There was no Christmas market in this area in December 2022 though

Beautiful old square with plenty of cafes, bars and places to eat. Reduced services and number of places open on a Sunday so it’s best to go on a Saturday when the town square is active and full of life.

Wear comfortable shoes, the cobblestones can be lethal for your feet!

Nice place to sit and drink a beer on a sunny day. There are a few restaurants around, all with a nice view of the square. Can get fairly busy, as is expected somewhere like this.

Very vibrant part of Leuven, full with quirky teraces. Lovely view of the University buildings too.

Very beautiful and clean city. If you wanna see, Belgian architecture, you must visit there. Students life is there amazing. Backpackers don't forget to enjoy night life for students in Leuven. You gonna just love it.

Its a "must see" ..very beautiful old town and it is near Bruxelles ! Not to far.. 20 minutes trip on the highway! The Old Market its a pleasant place to drink a beer and eat something on the terass enjoying the old architecture buildings ! 👍😉

A lovely square jam-packed with bars and brasseries. I went while there were no students, which was a good idea, as I am sure that during the academic year it is very busy.
