Hairy dog cafe

Excellent meal we got, we didnt expect that delicious meal in a cafe. we got brisket, burger, taco meal, they all come in a big portion, soup of the day potato and leak sopu is nice too. Love their organic green tea, I like to try their carrot cake which is famous, but we are all too full! love this cafe

Great coffee and delicious fresh Carrot cake and Apple muffin served with a smile and laugh in the courtyard.
Plenty of room for your bike as well if you are doing the picturesque rail trail.

Such a lovely little cafe for breakfast, so much so we drive the half hour to visit there. Eggs Benedict is by far my favourite choice, and the coffee is always on point. Service is lovely, friendly and chatty staff, a real country town vibe. Highly recommended.

The food served at this place is so fresh and delicious. We tried this place for lunch, the food and the sizing was sumptuous. Value for money. This place has got few amazing vegetarian options as well! The staff were friendly and kind too. Definitely Recommend.

BEST BIG BREAKFAST! In the Outer East

Customer Service - Very friendly greeting on arrival and great service during our time at the cafe.
Cafe interior - Really eclectic look with the cleaver use of old ladders on the ceiling to galvanized funnel lights and polished cement floor. LOVED IT!
Food - The ‘Hairy Dog Big Breakfast’, This was the best big breakfast I have had in years and best anywhere in Melbourne’s Outer East. Generous amount of bacon cooked perfectly, Potato Croquette was so creamy and nice. Yum! Full kransky split in half with adequate amount of spinach. We had poached eggs which were cooked to perfection. The bean shoots were a nice touch and tasty! (I would give this *****+)
Coffee - Hot and full of flavour. Large was large and generous amount of cream.
Value for Money - Not the cheapest Big Breakfast but worth every cent for what you get. Overall I was not disappointed with anything
Restroom - Spotless! This should be the benchmark for all cafe restrooms. *****
Great Place to visit!

Food was great, service was prompt and they let us take our dog inside with us (in the outside covered seating area). Food was well prepared and really delicious. Reviews speak for themselves, and this was a really nice cafe to visit for lunch at the weekend!

I had the best coffee since being in Australia! Love the little touch of a frozen espresso shot in the iced coffee to not water it down. Staff were lovely too!

This is an amazing place near to Gembrook railway Station. I asked for a vegan item and the lady there was kind enough to explain me all the things she had. The ambience is too good and so is the food. Thanks :-)

Food is spectacular, also served fresh and hot which is a welcomed change to most of the cafes in Melbourne. Also u can’t go wrong with a Merlo coffee. The perfect lunch.

Wow what a gem in the heart of beautiful Gembrook! A family owned ripper cafe with one of the most amazing breakfasts I have ever had! Everything one the plate was cooked and seasoned to perfection! I just ordered beef burger, it was amazing , the bread the quality of beef , the fried egg inside as well as pineapple slice…..
I just can say my best beef burger ever 🤌

Wow! You know you've had a great meal when you don't need salt and pepper. Perfection! Salmon Rosti and beef burger with amazing relish and chips that taste like someone has mashed the potato inside!

The food and coffee here was superb!! Best coffee I’ve had in a long time.
Staff were friendly and the cafe was so lovely, well worth the drive!!

My wife and I ate here in late May 2023 on a Saturday for Brunch. Staff were exceptionally friendly and the food and drink was amazing and of very high quality. Eggs Benedict was one of the best I've had and my Wife couldn't get enough of her Iced Chai Latte. Was also super easy to reserve a table by messaging the cafe on Instagram. Dining area is spacious and clean. Pricing is good, menu has plenty of options to cater for all, we will be back.

On a very cold and gloomy day we were meet by the warmest of smiles. Fantastic staff and great food. Thank you for being so understanding of our special family.

I don't have anything that can fault the coffee or the delicious burger, which was clearly made from scratch in-house. As per other reviews - those "bad boy chips" are something else.

We were recommended of this place by Prab, who undoubtedly is a very proud member of their team.
Today, I , along with my wife and daughter, went there for the first time and we all are so glad that we did.
It was absolutely wonderful. The hospitality started with a warm welcome, and was followed by quick service of the food. The presentation of the food was of such a high level that it would easily embarrass a chef from any seven star hotel. The taste was sumptuous. And in the end, the coffee really took the experience to the next level. Absolutely divine 😊
