Lost Captain

What a great place! We had a lovely meal here, excited to try some different dishes!
Service was prompt & attentive. First the Fried Ricotta Gnudi, were light & fluffy. Then I had the roast duck - delightfully paired with Raspberries & Hazelnut. Green leaf salad was devine - like it had just been picked. heaps of seating inside and out, highly recommended.

Must try their Gnocchi!! Absolutely worth the travel!! Everyone is very accommodating and welcoming. They have awesome team on that day 25/05.

Friendly staff, nice setting and nice food. Had the small plates to share and they are plenty! Good choice of local wines and beers too. Could imagine how great it is for sunny day lunch!

We had a wonderful meal here and found the staff to be exceptional. Food was delicious too! Also liked the area out the front for our baby to have a play around.

My husband and I were very impressed with our lunch at the Lost Captain. The staff warmly welcomed us in and sat us at the most perfect spot in front of the warm fireplace. We had the chicken parmi (hubby) and potato gnocchi (me). The potato gnocchi was the most scrumptious gnocchi I’ve ever tasted - it had the perfect amount of mush room and truffle flavours and I will be dreaming about this dish for many years to come!! Beside the food being exceptional (& huge portions), the staff were so welcoming and fun to chat with which made the atmosphere so cheery and warm. Can’t wait to go back!

What a wonderful find on our drive to Huonville today! An amazing experience in this beautiful restaurant, catered for vegans, food was beautiful but the most important thing for us was the amazing staff, what a sensational team and it was so obvious they work as a team! … and I have to say special mention to Brock, a lovely young man who has a great sense of humour! I would have to say I can’t remember seeing such great teamwork, you are all amazing! If we visit Tassie again we will be back! Thank you so very much for today, Vicki, Peter and Judy. This is a must visit when in the area! Delicious food, excellent service & a beautiful space. We thoroughly enjoyed our sharing plates of entrees & the market fish. Yum! Thank you so much team 🥰

An absolutely beautiful dinner. Delicious local produce (we had the bread and butter, Cape Grim steak with peppercorn sauce, cos and fries), great service, and warm and toasty inside eating my the fire. The staff were lovely and attentive and it was a real treat. We’ll be back for sure.

The Lost Captain crew were amazing in the lead-up and also on our wedding day. Ruth and Charlotte were incredible, helping to make our evening absolutely seamless. We appreciated all the details they dealt with - big and small - nothing was too much trouble. The food just kept coming and exceeded all expectations - thank you, chef! Lovely lunch in a beautiful setting. Delicious food and the best gin fizz ever! Highly recommend for a casual snack or full on gastro experience.

Keep coming back for more amazing food

Had the wagu brisket & slow cooked pulled pork, it was spectacular. The service was top notch, friendly, helpful & very knowledgeable staff. I should also mention what great atmosphere it had with a broad age group 👌

We had such a great experience when we came for dinner that we booked to return the next night. The food and wine were excellent and our waiter, Lucy, was fabulous - so friendly and attentive!

Had the best experience at the lost Captain last night. We had the Texas BBQ and its hands down the best meal I’ve ever eaten and the 10 people I shared it with all agreed. Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant in the Huon Valley. Great indoor and outdoor dining with a menu to suit everyone.

Four of us shared around six starters from the menu and had two stunning bottles of Tassie wine from small producers. The food was sensational and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend. We had a great night!

Wowsers. Well worth the trip from Hobart. Check out their cocktail menu. Excellent customer service, very friendly staff. My favourite dish was the scallops and cauliflower. I NEED to go back for their dinner menu.

Our waiter, although only 16, had a great sense of humour and fantastic service. The food... oh the food!! Portion sizes were generous and oh so delicious! Cocktails, entrees, desserts... everything was superb! Shared the Tomahawk between 3 of us. Perfect! Will definitely revisit.

Lovely venue outside facing the mighty Huon river! The food was sensational and not too heavy. The drink list was good with great cocktails. Was a very busy lunchtime service and top marks for the customer service! Will definitely revisit!
