Hinchinbrook Lookout

Paths are clear. Stunning views. Best views are from the one you need to walk to, but there are a few steps. Totally worth it.

We stopped here on Tues 28 May 2024.
Turned off the highway, to have a look - we were not disappointed!
Really good views - great photos.
There are boards explaining what you see.
Recommended.

Even on an overcast day, it's worth the walk up the watch tower. Gorgeous view of Hinchinbrook Island.

Definitely look at both viewpoints here, could easily spend an hour just sitting watching the world go by. Incredible views and really quiet. Would 100% recommend. Would also recommend bringing mosquito repellent as we did get bitten quite a lot.

Nice lookout on the way between Townsville and Cairns. Interesting piece of history. Worth a quick stop :)

A very worthwhile tiny detour from the highway.
A great spot to pull over to take a break and stretch the legs while enjoying uninterrupted views from the lookout.
There is enough parking for all and the area is removed from the highway enough that it's peaceful enough to enjoy the scenery.
On top of the views there are information boards available to read and offer a better understanding of the area.

Great views of Hinchenbrook Island and inlets. Be sure to do both short walks as the one labelled 'Hinchenbrook Lookout' is not the best view. Access to lookout from either side of three highway. A must see Lookout in the road between Cairns and Townsville.

Its a beautiful and amazing place full of nature of all kinds. Wonderful photo opportunity that i took full advantage of,the Johnston river was absolutely stunning

Fantastic views over the Hinchinbrook National Park. I attended on a rainy day, but the views were stunning with low cloud & dark clouds making photos pop. Loved the little drive up a steep incline but well worth it🩵💛💙🩵💛💙

Nice little stop just off the highway with great views. Information boards available providing info of the view and area. Parking close by. A worthwhile stop.

Panjoo - One of the best lookouts I've been too. Recommend to bring some binoculars and give yourself ample of time to soak in the views. It may get too hot for some.

It is certainly spectacular when the sun is shining. We have seen this lookout several times, and today, it did not disappoint.

Wow! This is a absolutely stunning view! Looks like you jumped into a fairytale. We hadn't got the best weather but it was great anyway. Would absolutely recommend to visit this place.

A worthwhile stop - great place to stretch the legs and get the blood pumping with the short walk to the second lookout. Well maintained with info boards to keep you occupied while you breath in the fresh air and take in the views

Top view that... plus also coupled with Panjoo Lookout its a fantastic outlook towards Hinchinbrook Island.
