The Barn - Erinvale

We called Erinvale on a whim seeking same-day accommodation. We were sceptical of success and also anticipated a price outside of our budget, as we were literally on a spur-of-the-moment overnight getaway. Much to our surprise, not only was The Barn available, it was affordable.

We checked in a couple of hours later and were immediately impressed by the warmth and hospitality of our hosts. After the initial meet-and-greet, we were taken from the family property to The Barn, a short drive taking us a couple of kilometres into the 100 acre cattle property. Don't stress, you're still only 10-15 minutes from civilisation and all it provides. The personal touches, including a complimentary cheese platter, were genuinely appreciated.

The Barn itself is amazing, a hybrid in which technology and mod cons are seamlessly woven into the past. Original timber, from the early 1900's homestead, gracefully frames modernity; a king sized bed, claw-foot bath, adequate kitchen, TV, WiFi, full power, electric blanket on the bed, and more.

At The Barn, you're truly alone. The silence, although initially daunting or uncomfortable, becomes familiar and calming. You want noise, you'll have to make it. Sleep is tranquil, and the biggest highlight is looking out your window in the morning and seeing cows. Lots of cows. Dozens of them! Returning from the hills, they surround The Barn from every direction. It's a unique experience and very cool.

Overall, The Barn at Erinvale was a fantastic find and provided a superb getaway. We sadly only had the one night, but have already committed to a longer, larger stay. That silence is addictive! If you want to de-stress and have some time away from the daily grind, and relaxing days/reading/movies/walks are to your liking, then consider The Barn as your next go-to location.

On an aside, the hosts also own Bannock Brae Meats, a true paddock-to-plate butcher shop that delivers online orders across SE Qld. We were able to buy some of their products when leaving (rib fillet and T-bone) and were impressed with the quality and flavour. They supply a large range of items, from standard fare through to gourmet options, such as pastries, curries, sausage rolls, etc. Check it out if you're keen on great protein.

Most amazing farm stay or camping and holiday stay.
The surrounding acreage and peaceful wildlife create a picture perfect vacation.
The hospitality of the hosts is unparalleled, the cabin is tastefully done and the friendliness of the village people makes it even better.
