Built in 1988 but so modern. Great venue. Self guided audio tour but one of the best we have ever seen put together. You can do end an hour or 4-5 hrs. So much to do, see, experience. And a nice little cafe and shop at the end too. Nice grounds as well, very easy parking.

Loved the experience. Learning much about the life of a stockman, and the outback in general. We did the lot, museum, cinema show and the outback stockman show. Cafe available for food and drinks. Souvenirs of the experience available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Thankyou.

This is a must see for anyone interested in the development of rural Australia. I saw it first decades ago. Now, with headsets that sense the viewers location, a smartphone screen gives choices of subjects that match where you are. Two things that set this apart from most museums are the quiet and the intentional simplicity. Even kids on museum treasure hunts don't distract when they are engaged and listening over the headsets

Packaged ticket, movie, museum and live show. Absolutely loved all of it. We had been many years ago but the changes now with the story teller via the headphones interaction has truly brought it to life. The live show was also so engaging, you could easily visualise the picture being painted through the poems and stories, the dogs and the horses were terrific too. Highly recommend a visit to anyone travelling to Longreach.

Loved it. We walked through today and we there for over three hours. From the huge wide screen documentary at the beginning and right through the complete hall, it was very well set out, flowed well and was very informative with amazing sculptures and displays. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the array of souvenirs was fantastic. Thank you for having this testament to the lives of the Australian Stockman available for all of us to enjoy.

Great hospitality from Rosemary and her husband, while our family placed our grandparents on the memorial wall. I also enjoyed all the stories and memorabilia there. They have individual audio to choose the stories and linger as long as wanted with all areas i learned so much. The experience with the new technology I've never seen before is truly innovative. We travelled 18 hours to be here and it did not disappoint.

Wow.. we planned on just doing the self guided tour of the museum but decided on the full experience at the last minute. And it was worth every cent. We toured the museum for about 2 hours, then watched a movie about the stock horse that were sent to war. Then we watched the live show which gives a comprehensive overview of training horses and dogs who work the livestock. We loved it..

Well worth the visit and it's modern set up with audio which comes on at each exhibition as you come to them.

Amazing museum with lots of interesting exhibits. Generous how they used a headset for the tour instead of a tour guide, it allowed you to take as much time at each exhibit as you liked. Nice cafe and gift shop. Had a whip making station where you watched somebody make a whip which was amazing.

It's a really interesting tourist attraction. I mostly enjoyed the headphone aspect and the stories told, it allows everyone to go at their own pace and take in the history. The films are a fantastic addition to the feel. We did the full experience and the outback show was the highlight for me, Lochie is the best showman and his entourage is amazing 🤩

This was excellent. I enjoyed it more than I thought, so much detail, history, and so much to see. The museum was excellent, along with the head sets explaining each section you approached and brilliantly finished off with the show, highly recommended.

Fantastic and a must-visit for your trip to Longreach. Beautiful displays and interesting commentary via headset including songs, poetry and stories of the past. We went during school holidays which is a really busy time to visit, so you must book tickets ahead.

Greeted by a lovely lady by Annette at front door. Who assisted me on my way. Very professional with a smile. I have been here twice b4. But I loved it this time. Simply because management has a ramp to assist clients with disabilities. Exhibition is truly Australian.Plenty of space, outside parking, Well sign posted from main road. Excellent Cafe. I give them 1000 stars. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed the museum. The earphones and tablet allow you to spend as much time as you like at each exhibit. My husband especially enjoyed the whip making. I loved the architecture and the way the restrooms even matched the outback theme!

arrived late unfortunately , so couldn't stay too long. closes at 4pm. Definately worth visiting while in Longreach . Copious amounts of history. given a phone and headphones and sent inside. phone is loaded with stories that correspond with the section you are in. . lots to take in , lots to see and listen to. I loved it. . cafe wasn't open but little gift shop with reasonably priced items on the way out . Disabled access. Huge area of free parking but very little shade to leave the dogs in the car for those travelling with furbabies . Very clean and staff were knowledgeable about museum and the area in general. I'd go back for a second look if I got the chance!

This is one of the great places to spend quality time with family. I'm learning so much about the country lifestyle and the hard work from the past till now. Btw the gallery next from the main building is great.
