It's very remote and a bit of a track to get to, but it's a great spot and a great grounds keeper. Got the chance to see dingos, kangaroos, and more wildlife. The campground has some great hikes. Also, well maintained restrooms with toilet paper & showers with hot water.

I see no reason to give less than full marks. The caretaker is a legend, and the spot is beautiful. A combination of a long-lost town preserved in time surrounded by very large campsites. Extremely clean location. It is, however, a 4WD route. The road is curvy and in a bad state, and you'll be going nothing more 20-30 kmph. It takes roughly 2 hours to go the last stretch (70 km). Fill. Up. On. Fuel. !! There is nothing for approximately 100 km from the camp-site, and you'll be driving on maximum settings, i.e., burning fuel. Aside from the thousands of potholes big enough to fit your house in, there are several streams along the way that would probably flood badly if there's heavy rain. Check the alerts before leaving. The weather is typical Oberon weather - windy and cold, but in an enjoyable way. There is zero cellphone coverage on any carrier, so learn to read a paper map or download the route before you go. Overall, I would recommend going for nothing less than 3 or 4 days as the drive there is very taxing.

Escape your day-to-day life and feel like you’ve stepped into a forgotten time at Private Town campground in Yerranderie Regional Park.

Accessed via 4WD Oberon Colong historic stock route, the campground allows you to absorb the incredible, rugged wilderness of the environment, complete with a rich array of native wildlife, including bounding kangaroos, charming wombats, and a wide range of native birds.

Take bushwalks into the surrounding majestic Blue Mountains National Park World Heritage Area. Or explore the historic silver mines and ghost town of Yerranderie Private Town.

Enjoy eating out under the stars around the campfire while you plan your next day’s adventures.

Best camping spot to disconnect from civilisation. Mark the caretaker is a legend resourceful man. Also, there is about 2 hours of off road drive. Fill your fuel tank in the last station on the way. Google map and other gps devices do not show the way they show a road that goes through private properties or not existing roads. What you can do is to put the place as destination and it will give you the wrong route but then add a stop. Add Oberon as stop and shuffle it to the middle. Then google map will give you accurate route. Make sure you download the map so it works offline. The mobile reception is weak and will jot bring up the maps. However, in some spot about 10 minutes before the camp you can have weak reception enough toncontact outside.

Awesome camping spot for family’s, I camped here for 5 days lots of good walking tracks to old mines, the old town is awesome to look around and the caretakers here are very helpful. It’s also a good day trip from Katoomba it’s about 3 hours and 10 minutes away. Call Yerranderie before you go on (4659 6165)

The trip in and out are a bit of an adventure on their own.
But tight in places, needed to pull over and let cars past. Glad we didn't take the caravan.
Then we arrived and it opens up into the historical town. So very beautiful.
Our group was met by the caretaker who pointed us into a spot where we were away from others (near the Orange tree that had grown from 140 year old root stock. Amazing)
He was extremely helpful and bent over backwards to answer any of our questions, nothing was a bother.
Looking at the old buildings and the mine sites it gives you a new appreciation for how tough life must have been back in the day.
So pleased that this little bit of history has been preserved for future generations.
Will be back again for sure.

Great spot away from everyone else. Grassy campsites with nice amenities and a silver mine to tour. It's all dirt road to get here so 4WD only folks.

One of the best campgrounds I have visited. Great facilities and ample space outside of peak. Many walking tracks to explore and great addition to a trip to Wombeyan Caves. Will be back.

This campground has facilities maintained by the yerranderie caretaker, even a camp kitchen is available with fresh water available.
There are resident kangaroos and lace monitors (Goannas) so be careful with food.
There is lots to see and do.

This is a great weekend getaway destination for families or groups.

There is only one way in and out of this place and that is by the Colong Stock Route. The Ranger said that people are always running out of fuel as they expect to be able to get out a different way.
