This place is superb! The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious and generous in size. We sat outside in the well-maintained garden and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Lovely food, amazeballs scones, incredible looking Vanilla Slices (which would be a meal on their own!), very good coffee and lovely staff in a rustic setting. Recommended.

This place is excellent! Great location, great food, great staff and great vanilla slices! We have bee here several times and the place is always welcoming. Incidentally, the vanilla slices weigh in at 500 grams!

Gorgeous bush setting with a choice of dining inside, on the large deck with amazing bush views, or in the pretty garden where you can go for a wander to the pond, the surrounding area, or even visit the chickens. Lovely place for a relaxing meal.

The staff are extremely friendly and perky, wanting to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Good range of very tasty food, and great selection of sweets. We usually order extra to take home!

Licensed, but not open at night unless booked well in advance for special events.

The toilets are downstairs, but are accessible by a driveway around the side if stairs are too difficult. There are still a couple of steps in front of the toilets, so wheel chair accessibility may be a little awkward but not impossible.

The staff are so friendly and have created an atmosphere where you can take your time, you're not rushed out the door. The food is great and there is a playground and sandpit and hens to say hi to. It's a beautiful place to stop, slow down and enjoy being amongst the trees.

We booked a table for a birthday lunch, and every aspect of the experience was first rate. Friendly, attentive and professional staff. The meals were generous, very well prepared and delicious!! Very good value. We are returning customers, and will certainly be vising Dark Horse Cafe' again. Highly recommend.

Slices - just magnificent and worth the cost because they are just huge!

Great coffee and great service. I was part of a walking group of 11 people. We were given a seat in the air conditioned area which was very welcome on a hot day. Our drinks were served within 5 minutes.

We were paying through for one night and found this gem of a cafe for lunch. The most lovely people, delicious food, (huge portions), and a shady table overlooking a pond with the sound of frogs and kookaburras...perfection. And they accommodate allergies beautifully. We loved it so much we came back for brekky, and they remembered us. 100% visit if you can 😊

Great location, Smashed avo and Fries was amazing. Vegetarian Burger 🍔 was yum 🤤 never had that good vegetarian Burger ever.Excellent service, Super friendly staff, great coffee & Vegan Brownie 😋. Thank you girls for making my unplanned & first visit marvellous.

The food is delicious and the place is huge! Even if the car park looks full, there's usually space somewhere and the food comes out quickly. Fantastic place to eat! I look forward to many more meals here.

The Dark Horse- what a perfect venue to celebrate our mum’s 91st birthday last Sunday.
We all thoroughly enjoyed eating delicious food while sitting on the deck at the front of this cosy, rustic and welcoming cafe. Where we were sitting felt like our own private party.
But what stands out at the Dark Horse is the excellent service by the staff.
You can tell they have a passion for hospitality. Everyone was happy, friendly and attentive.
You all made the day so special for mum and our family.

Such a lovely place along the way to Yarra valley. So many handmade soaps, wines and gin available as well. The staff are really friendly, and the coffee is good! Nothing more you can ask for. Would definitely go again ✨

Brilliant location, brilliant food, brilliant service! What more could you ask for? Just a 40 min drive from Melbourne, nestled among the hills and lush greenery, this place offers sole great food options with super friendly staff. Highly recommended on its own or even as a pit stop enroute to some of the other destinations further on.
