Middle Gorge Park

Just love the ruggedness! So grateful to the mountain bikers for creating and maintaining the paths. I always think that hikers and mountain bikers complement each other! While the mountain bikers create the paths, they have to concentrate on the tracks for safety. Hikers love the goats tracks the bikers create. Hikers also get to enjoy the surroundings! Therefore, it makes sense for the bikers to hike sometimes to appreciate their own creations! One of the bikers hiked with us over the weekend. He told us he really appreciated the paths more and enjoyed the surroundings as a hiker! The geology, the river after the rain is just so refreshing!

You almost die riding these trails. But you don't. But you almost do. Expect to spend several thousand dollars on a bigger bike that can handle the downhill. Check your life insurance premium and ambulance cover. No location beacon required as your screams are easily heard across the gorge.

The gorge stretches a fair distance from blue lake in yarrambat up through Mernda.
