It's important to maintain significant reminders in the form of war memorials like this, and moreover this is fantastic for also providing an engaging place to stop. You can climb the historic tower and enjoy broad scenic views, and can also enjoy the rotunda in the grassland reserve nearby. A great place to stop on the way back from a day out in Yarra Valley.

Must see scene. Even you can see the CBD with this much of distance.

Lovely place to visit on the highest point in Kangaroo Ground. Nice large carpark. Toilets. Picnic tables. There is the obvious tower that is easy to climb the spiral staircase - all of 59 steps. Views 360 degrees to Melbourne and back to the Dandenongs.
Nice interpretation boards with relevant and interesting information.
There is also a more modern viewing platform. Nicely made but could benefit from some further info as it has nice large display boards.
I’ve come here a few times just for the serenity that embraces you in a quiet but stunning environment.

Stunning setting on the top of a hill over looking the beautiful valley below. I didnt venture up the tower but my husband did and he said the views were amazing. Located at this memorial is a rotunda with story boards of Australian indigenous culture.

This is one of the best lookout Towers in Melbourne, second only to Mt Dandenong. I only discovered this recently. It's awesome to climb the spiral staircase and walk around the top for a 360 view of the area north of Melbourne. Can see the city and the bay! There is a good Historical installation which is part of a wheelchair accessible lookout near the main memorial tower.

It's a fairly small and quiet park with great view looking down the hill or the tower. Makes you forget about the busy city life and appreciate the beauty of the landscape and nature.

Nice view, makes you feel king of the hill.

Nothing much to do here, come just for the view and rest. The tower closes early, it is better to come on the morning.

There is a lot of space for having a picnic, and kids can run downhill safely.

Good for coming in family with some sandwiches.

This little gem is tucked away beautifully in the hills of kangaroo ground. Boasts 360° vista views as far as the eye can see. Down to the south east, the Melbourne cityscape picturesque and stunning.
Short climb, well worth the views

Probably still “the best view spot in The Colony”. This is gobsmacking - I climbed the modern spiral staircase with my very dodgy knees and took a video from the top (posted on Facebook) of the 360° view. it was worth every painful step.
We came upon this monument/lookout/fire watchtower unexpectedly while we were moseying along ‘the pretty way’ (okay, we were a bit lost) from Kinglake to Frankston.
SO glad we stopped here!

When we visited, the park and viewing platform were open, but not the beautiful tower. The view from here is fabulous!

A very poinant place to reflect on the sacrifice of men fighting a war so far away.

The tower offers magnificent views in all directions. Some of the far hills are obscured by vegetation, however most are still discernible, on a clear day, using the markers on each side of the viewing platform to make identification. This is a great place to bring overseas guests and let them appreciate our environment.

This memorial offers spectacular views all the way to the city. The surrounding hills with the classic blue hue given of by the 🌳gum trees, is beautiful. You can climb the internal spiral staircase of 60 steps to the top of the memorial tower for even better views🌄. The grounds have a carpark for around🚘 20 vehicles. There are a few scattered picnic tables and seating under a gazebo with walls displaying information about the local area; including the traditional owners of the land, where the name Kangaroo Ground came from and the history of farming in the region. A delightful spot,☺

Great views from the top of the tower, 59 spiral steps to the top, nice gardens, seating, a lot of historical information in the new platform structure, restrooms and wheelchair parking and access to the new structure, you can see Melbourne to the south from the tower on a clear day

It is a great view of the area. It was also great to read about the local history of the area. I think this is a great place to see the sunset over the surrounding area. I cannot wait until I visit this peaceful again.

Fantastic view of the Diamond and Yarra Valleys. Car park is small so large groups with many cars would not be advised. Can be closed on Total Fire Ban Days as the tower has a fire watch tower positioned on top.
