I've eaten at the bistro a couple of times now. The surf and turf and Malaysian curry were absolutely delicious.

The view is stunning, watching the kangaroos on the course. It will be our go to venue when in Angelsea.

We attended the Golf Club Christmas raffle night last night - over 100 there for dinner. We were advised by Chantelle on arrival to order early as it was a big night ! Food was fabulous. Service terrific ! Congrats to Chantelle and the team !

Glad to have the opportunity to provide some positive feedback.

My family and friends (9 people) came to have dinner on the 24th January.

We haven't been to your club for 2 years and we were very impressed with the beautiful renovations. The chairs were very comfortable and the whole place looked fresh and modern.

We were greeted by friendly staff, who made us aware that they were short staffed and meals may come out slower. This was not the case, the Staff, who looked busy but didn't appear stressed, were very professional and our meals come out in a timely manner. The meals were very good, and we ate everything. We had chicken parma's, steak, marinated chicken, butter chicken.

We will be coming back, when we next stay in Anglesea.  Please pass this onto all staff evolved.

We Reserved a table and was placed next to the toilet entrance. Therefore we requested a move. Despite numerous other tables being available, a change of location was not offered. It was suggested that the next time we book, we should specify that we don’t wish to sit next to the toilet entrance. In addition, they persist in supplying adults (who purchase a jug of soft drink) with horrible little plastic cups. Why? Meals were very ordinary & bland. Purchased a steak and veges, however it didn’t come with gf potato. Mash, baby chats are very easy to do. Or have a seperate fryer for chips. They really need to lift. We have been coming to the golf course regularly for 15 years and sadly will not be back in a hurry.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a more depressing experience in all my life.

But I give credit where credit is due, the Bistro’s bar/club were amazing and were very kind and easy going and the prices were actually pretty reasonable. But when I ordered my food. That’s where it went down hill

I went up to order my food, and I hear chefs yelling to the top of their lungs, like I swear the whole restaurant could hear it.

I ordered a beef burger, and what I got was very unpleasant, the buns had no relish or mayo, which was advertised, and the top bun was completely burnt, and the patty was so over cooked, the cow was coming back to haunt the Bistro, I wanted to complain but those poor wait staff looked so overworked it’s not funny.

Take my advice, go to the pub just a bit further, their food is so much better, and the staff are actually cared for and care about what they send out

What the biggest waste of money ever, I came down to Anglesea with my wife as we do every year, and as tradition we stop by the Bistro, sure it wasn’t the best but it was decent for the price.

I don’t know if it’s new management this year or if chefs have changed but the food just isn’t the same anymore, the salad I got with my Calamari was in a small white bowl, and the lettuce was literally off, carrots were slightly black like it wasn’t peeled properly,

My wife’s salmon was dry, like it was either overcooked or just plain rubber, I was a chef for crown Sydney for almost 7 Years, and that’s one of the worst displays of food I’ve ever seen.
and from what I could hear from the kitchen (which wasn’t hard with how loud) the chefs were just rude to one another.

Honestly probably the last time I come down to Anglesea, I love the golf club, it’s one of the best ones in australia, but the Bistro isn’t what is used to be. Overpriced for what your getting,

Salmon was not seasoned or sauced at all, overcooked, not just slightly but as in powdery… and came with vegetables that looked microwaved out of a frozen veggie packet.

Kids cheeseburger was a Turkish pide cut in half, a slice of half melted cheese and a beef Pattie thrown onto a bowl of undercooked chips. Not even a squirt of sauce, or a slap of butter. Chips don’t come with a side of sauce either.

Kids pizza, dollops of pizza sauce over the pizza with dollops of toppings in other spots. So you can either have a mouthful of dough and sauce, or dough and toppings.

Burger, again, on a half Turkish pide. A bit of relish, a tomato slice, slice of half melted cheese. Round bacon as thick as the beef Pattie. Not saying the beef pattie is thin, I’m saying the bacon was horribly over proportioned. Undercooked chips, would be nice chips if they were cooked through though.

Service - absolutely horrendous. Teenagers there seem miserable, but I would be too working for the manager who would have to be the rudest person I’ve encountered in hospitality.

We rolled the dice and decided to visit based on hearing new management/menu. We were very disappointed with the meals, but that was our gamble and loss. But it all came down to a simple request of a scoop of replacement ice cream from grandma. Hers was clearly a different type than what was on the other desserts, and was simply rock hard. The other plates are softening and melting. This one, I don’t know if it was a different brand, gone off or just a bad batch, but it was inedible. On the request, the manager swore under his breath as he walked away from my grandparents, not resolving the issue. We asked if we could find out if a replacement was coming and he threw his hands out and cursed under his breath again. I told him to stand his ground and help resolve the complain rather than storming off mumbling obscenities and he threatened to throw me out. I wasn’t fussed because I don’t be returning. He did offer a full refund.

Ruined a night out for the grandparents and my kids keep saying they hope they never see that manager person again.

Please be aware - despite having outdoor seating and no indication on their website, dogs are not welcome at this venue.
While the person who initially greeted us was friendly, the lady from behind the bar informed as that there were laws which prevented dogs being seated outside at this venue (?).
We were also informed it was illegal to leave them in the car (6:30pm at night , 15 degrees outside).
Clearly not wanting our patronage, won’t return with or without our dogs.
