Wanted to go on the shortest track (1.2km) because of my 2 1/2 yr old kid, but took a wrong turn & ended up in the longest route which is 6.5 of steep up & down hills inside the thick forest. It was exhausting but completely worth it.

This park is a bit further out of town but feels much more of an authentic SE Qld rainforest than some others. It's feels more untouched. Plenty of animals: birds galore, wallabies, insects etc. It's elevated so is much cooler than the coast and stays pretty green and wet almost irrespective of how dry the surrounding area is. Well worth the drive.

Good mix of running creeks, elevated lookouts, simple camping, bird and reptile spotting, waterfalls and forest. Simple tracks, free walking, and slightly harder tracks are on offer. A wet spring brings fireflies.

The largest sweep of rainforest in south-east Queensland is preserved by the Main Range National Park.

The park has four visitor nodes, the most convenient to Warwick being the Goomburra section, lying in the western foothills of the Great Dividing Range.

Here manna gums and New England blackbutts grow in exposed dry forest, while down in the humid gullies are palms and epihpytes.

Beginning on the west side of the Goomburra section is a pair of loops: The Ridge Track and the Cascade Circuit, setting off from the well-equipped Manna Gum Camping Area.

Go east, further into the range, and there are point-to-point hikes to mountain lookouts and the beautiful Araucaria Falls.
