Easily 5 stars. In the VIP tour, the service was divine, a private guide for the whole time. Visit all their animals and participate in many encounters such as the free flight bird show, being followed up by the chance to hold a barn owl. You also get to hold blue-tongue lizards and even a black-headed python during the reptile encounter. The experience includes the chance to hold and feed two sugar gliders, perfect for anyone 10+ (minimum age) - and those are only a few of the many animals at the sanctuary. The food was outstanding. The menu ranged from burgers to wraps, yet having many options for dietary requirements. The gift shop was also astonishing. It had many shirts, plushies and even skin care products! You could also buy a variety of delicious macadamias, each one perfect to satisfy a hungry stomach. Even without a VIP pass, the sanctuary is an excellent place to go any day of the week. If you need something to do for the day, a way to entertain the kids or just want to visit, the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place to go. Shoutout to our VIP tour guide Rachael for letting us embrace the sanctuary.

Can 110% recommend. We had a great time and stayed longer than expected, good value for money (family $90). The park is very small but is making up for its size by great extras like splash pad, mini golf and talks. Staff is great and knowledge and the talks are small enough to get up close with the animals and ask questions. Enjoyed it more than the bigger more commercial parks.

This was a cute little sanctuary. We got a private experience with a sugar glider and learned a lot about them and the sanctuary it self. The staff is friendly and the fries were also delicious;)

Always great to visit my local wildlife park who, with the hospital, do so much for our native wildlife!

We have just returned from the BEST day out with the whole family at Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. As we were celebrating a birthday we chose the VIP experience. Joshua was our wonderful keeper for the day, who met us at the gate, showed us around the park and taught us so many wonderful new things about wildlife.
The park is intimate, but it is so clean and the animals and their enclosures were extremely clean and well-maintained. It was a joy to see.
Every staff member from the cafe to the shop and front of the house was friendly and nothing was too much bother.
Every keeper was happy and spent time during all the shows answering the questions of the children as well as the big kids like me.
The admission price was very reasonable and the encounters were so well priced we will be back. We took the VIP experience package as it worked out cheaper for the whole family to come and have admission, a Barn Owl encounter, a Tawny frog mouth encounter, 2 lovely Snakes and a Blue tongue lizard encounter, we got to cuddle rabbits and guinea pigs, have fun with the sugar gliders as well as getting a welcoming coffee on arrival, pancakes for morning tea, a chose of lunch and beverage and to end the day a packet of nuts and a gin and tonic!
I would recommend this VIP pass to everyone. To have Joshua with us all the time we we were in the park we got a one-on-one with each of the animals. Our private tutor. Saw the back of the house and was explained all about the workings of the sanctuary and mobile hospital as well as met the amazing animals. It was a wonderful day and we will be returning. Thank you to all the staff at Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for making our day perfect.

We stopped here on our trip back to Brisbane to charge the car. Plenty of charging bays in a large carpark. Great place to stop for food and pick up some local produce and gift wares. It even had a small indoor toy play area to keep the toddlers interested too.

Great small wildlife sanctuary and Cafe for a nice day out. Bonus putt putt (could do with an upgrade) & small water park for the kids for something different.
My favourite was the sugar gliders 🤎 and owl 🩶
Thanks, will return.

This is no longer Macadamia Castle, it is now just Byron Bay Wildlife Park. We came here because it looked interesting, we didn't know what was here and thought maybe we would end up buying some Macadamia.

It turns out it's a really delightful Wildlife Park. There aren't a lot of animals, but there is lots of interactivity which makes it worth it, and our 10 month old absolutely loves watching animals.

Goat feeding was the most exciting bit, but also the kangaroos were good and the bird show, lots of other interesting animals to see too.

We did buy some warm Macadamias too.

It replaced the previously known Macadamia Castle but it offers the same level of experience for the kids. They loved it! You can touch kangaroos, chicks, goat, guinea pigs and rabbits. Then there are live shows for reptiles and koalas. There is a dry and a wet playground and food is also available from the cafe. It's a must see if you have kids.

Always love it when you have decent food close to chargers around, and this is a good case of us being able to get some stretch of legs and stumbled in to a great joint while waiting for a quick charge.

The castle has lot of animals and are great for kids.

Food is great too but the chicken wings were a little salty. Price is good. Either way can’t go too wrong

Note that kids pancakes are really just 2 pancakes with some source on it, so your kid can get bored quite quickly once ice cream is gone.

Great place for children and adults. Despite the pouring rain we had we both had a fantastic day! There are lots of interactions and petting with the animals. Scheduled shows/talks throughout the day. Putt putt was also fun to play. The best part was the pancakes and coffee. They were delicious! Would come back here again just to eat those yum.

I had the best time here! Totally unexpected! I went to check out what they had macadamia wise and to have a pancake breakfast and ended up at the cutest mini zoo! They had a bird show, a koala talk a reptile talk and several more. It was an unexpected joy. They also had putt putt golf (unfortunately it was raining when I went) and a playground for the kiddies. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m up in Byron

Really cool place. Can be a little pricey but well worth it for the tourist. Exceptionally priced for locals who can get a Yearly pass. Lots of cool shows to see that go throughout the day. Lots of animals to see and the keepers are exceptionally knowledgeable. They also have a nice cafe that does great food. They even have a little mini golf course you can play on and a small train ride for the kiddies. Definitely worth checking out.

We had a great time at Macadamia Castle. We arrived around 11.30 and left at close - plenty for us to do in that time. We are two 26 year olds - no kids in tow! The keeper talks were great and we learnt a lot (Thanks Rochelle!), love that the park uses positive reinforcement of its birds and is educating people regarding environmental concerns! Pancakes were great - we shared a black forest! We really wanted some Macadamia Castle Merchandise - like a pen, but couldn't find any. We got some mustard though which is yummy! Loos could be cleaner, but it's animal park and didn't bother us! Good value for money in our eyes and a great day out!
