Wow! We just had a great evening: delightful cocktails, wonderful food and wine, and friendly service. Our last evening at Diner Plain made the week complete with dinner at Alphutte. The lamb shoulder was to die for. The team were attentive and we can recommend the sticky fig pudding! Wish this was closer to Brisbane!!!

A step above the rest. Easily the best place to eat in the whole region. From the moment you walk you feel welcomed by the staff and the ambiance. Helped by the fireplace full of character and the size of the place. The meals were outstanding. Full flavour and cooked perfectly. Paired amazingly with a great wine. Best cocktails in town if that’s your thing. Staff were friendly and engaging. Worth the treat, book to avoid disappointment.

The amazing restaurant in the heart of Dinner plain. The food was top-notch, the wine is a good value for money. Recommend to get a side with your mains as the serves are on a smaller scale. But the quality and atmosphere are great.

Wonderful staff who allowed us to decorate our tables for a surprise wedding reception dinner. Private intimate setting , fabulous food, great wine & cocktails. Excellent service.

Superb experience! Captain David and his delightful crew run a very tight ship. Top of their game for sure providing the most excellent food and wine journey imaginable. So many highlights, the charcuterie board was a definite stand out and the Reisling was absolutely to die for! Fantastic snow castle fortress out front too for our visit. Thanks guys!

What a great find. My first time. Heard is was good. It was even better. Excellent actually. Had the Pappardelle pasta dish with duck leg: spinach and truffle butter. Simply the best pasta I have had in a long time. So full of flavour. For desert, had the sticky fig pudding with butterscotch and ice cream. Delicious! Great atmosphere and wonderful attentive staff. Will definitely come back.

Impromptu early feed at Alphutte with my 9yo son, great food and can't wait to try another time without children and settle in for a few wines. Mocktail pictured is what my son had for his bev. Keep up the great work, arguably some of the best food on the hill.

Biased opinion. The staff are outstanding, super friendly and fun, amazing to have a sommelier to discuss wine and pairings with. Chef is doing an amazing job, and I hear some new things coming to the menu too! Will definitely be back!

My husband and I were staying in Dinner Plain for a little winter getaway and Alphutte was a great find in the village. Our first night we grabbed a cocktail and sat by the fire, I overheard the server explaining the menu and knew we needed to come for dinner. It did not disappoint, I had the duck pappardelle which was plate licking good and my husband had the osso bucco, you could cut it with a spoon. Our starter of the house made focaccia with hummus was the perfect beginning. Don’t skip dessert! The sticky fig pudding has over taken my love of sticky date. And the peanut butter sauce on the brownie was a classic combo. A must go when in Dinner Plain.

Our go-to place for dinner in Dinner Plain - we try to come here at least twice every time we come so that we can order more things from the menu. The food never disappoints and the cosy intimate atmosphere is a winner.

Great atmosphere. Delicious cocktails. Fabulous food. Very high standard. The wine list could use some work but I won’t mark down for that seeing we’re in the middle of nowhere and everything else we’re all pluses. Recommend!

We had a lovely dinner here last night. The atmosphere is cosy, the service is great and the food was top notch. Recommend the anchovy Parmesan toast, osso bucco, lamb and fries.

We ate at Alphutte on the first weekend of tge 2023 snow season. Everything was first class. Food was delicious and creative and the service and friendly atmosphere was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend an evening at Alphutte. The atmosphere and service was perfect and the menu is superb. As a family of 4 we enjoyed the charcuterie and olives to start and then the beef cheeks, pork, lamb and salmon for our mains accompanied by a lovely Yarra valley red. To finish the meal my daughter and I indulged in the chocolate fondant and the apple, pear & ginger crumble. Certainly one of the best meals we have enjoyed on the mountain. Thank you!

I stayed a couple of days in Dinner Plain a year ago and ate at Alphutte both nights. Pizza the first night and Moroccan lamb soup the second. Both were sensational. Peter and the staff were very friendly and genuinely concerned that I had a great experience. This place figured highly in me wanting to stay at Dinner Plain again this year. The food, service and atmosphere were brilliant again. They also remembered me from last year, which is good going. It's a lovely, cosy and relaxing place to spend some time.

Our family of five enjoyed such a delicious dinner on Wednesday night we booked again for tonight.
I love duck and am often disappointed but this duck was crispy skin and tender flavourful meat. I even gnawed the bone! Sticky date pudding had a beautiful citrus twist.
