JB Plain Hut Campground

Best campsite i’ve been to.
Had a 150m walk from the car park, heaps of room to pitch a tent and a drop chute toilet. Has some picnic tables also.

Easiest place to camp in the snow but remember to bring a shovel as the snow is quiet thick.

Winter wonderland. This place was covered in snow up to my knees! Beautiful views of the mountains, great campsite - very close to the car park - no need to hike up a mountain or anything. The photos speak for themselves. Heaven basically.

I’d been encouraged to find the JB Hut and lot look out for Robins. Beaut place…no Robins

Beautiful hut nestled in the snow gum fields of the alpine highlands.

Easy stroll from the car park on the Great Alpine Rd, and easy access to facilities close by on Dinner Plain.

We took my photography tour group here on a foggy, moody day and we’re lucky to grab some great images.

Keep an eye out further out the back on the hut in the plains for Emus. We saw a small gathering of emus on this day.

There are plenty of lovely spots to stop en route to this hut with another hut (CB Hut) close by.

Enjoy the visit.

Good walk through grassy plains and snow gum to top of an escapement with great views either side. Couple of rises to test the lungs. Allow 4-5 hours.

At first, the plan was to camp and sleep in the area. But no one was staying there. So I decided not to rest. The hut is quite dark.

During summer, so peaceful, quiet, beautiful, serene... We saw emus on both days - in the morning we woke up to a group of three emus nearby!

Note: no water, toilet, or anything. Take your rubbish with you.

Good place to experience snow camping! Plenty of walks around the area. Fireplace in the hut a definite plus!

Great place to get a snow camping experience without hiking. Spotty snow patches around 20cm deep in early June.

Great walk and awesome alpine hut

Beautiful camp. No water available. Walk in 200m from the main road at the sign. You won't be disappointed!

The gate is closed in all seasons, no public motor vehicle access allowed past the gate.

Bring water as the rain water tank is not connected. Plenty of camping opportunities for the adventurous. Staying in tent is preferred as the huts intended for enjoyment of heritage & emergency refuge.

Marginal Telstra 3G phone reception.

National park - no domestic animals allowed.

There are no bins, please take your rubbish out & please don't try to burn glass or metal in the fireplace.

If visiting by car & you have access to firewood please kindly leave some.
