Surf Camp Down Under

We had an absolute ball with Shayne and Jordan for our surf lesson. They were friendly, patient, enthusiastic and encouraging. One member of our group had mobility problems and the team made sure she had a brilliant time catching the waves. I recommend the team at Down Under Surf School and will certainly book with them again.

Shaneo and Courtney are two of the most beautiful human beings I've ever met. There simply isn't a negative bone in their body. They radiate positivity with their joy and love for the ocean, for the surf, and teaching everyone from all walks of life and all ages how to surf. They are simply infectious with their positivity. You can hear Shaneo cheering on everyone before you even see him. And I mean everyone! No one's a stranger on the beaches here at Yamba.
If you've never surfed before don't stress. They'll have you standing and catching waves by the end of your session. All the kids absolutely love their surf camps, they look forward to it each holidays. The local groms have the best time with their weekly sessions. The tourists who come and visit always leave with a grin on their face.

I personally was worried about learning to surf because of my knees and weight. But Shaneo and his can do attitude put me at ease, and I was catching waves by the end of my lesson. My 11 year daughter always has a blast each holidays with the 3 day surf camp, and I know I'm gonna have to get her in weekly grom sessions once it warms up more.

Long story short:
If you or someone you know has ever wanted to learn to surf and will be in or around Yamba, hit these guys up - they won't disappoint!

I can not speak more highly of Shayno and his team and what they have provided the community in Yamba. My son has been to many Surf Camps and lessons with Surf Camp Down Under over the last few years and every time he leaves with a grin on his face, feeling very satisfied. Shayno has such incredible enthusiasm and energy which is such a positive influence on our kids. I’ll definitely encourage my younger kids to attend Surf Camps as soon as they are old
enough.

Surf Camp Down Under has been the foundation of my son’s journey into surfing. We’re a family from Melbourne who make the trip to Yamba numerous times a year and making our way down to one of the many surf spots Yamba has to offer to watch my son join Shayno and his team is the absolute highlight!
The team’s enthusiasm for teaching, supporting and celebrating any Surf Camp Down Under participant is heart warming and I highly recommend it to kids or adults looking to kick off their surfing ambitions.

Amazing experience, kids and I had a great time and Shane was a really great teacher and hype for the kids to keep going. They all loved it and are keen for the next!

My 10 year old son and my 13 year old daughter just did the 3 day holiday camp and loved it. All the coaches were very friendly, helpful and catered for different levels of surfing.
The camp also involved beach games, swimming , BBQ on the last day and dolphins :-)
I would definitely sign them up again .....

My three children love going to Surf Camp when on holidays in Yamba. They learn so many valuable rules about the beach, whilst having lots of fun. The instructors are so knowlegable, enthusiastic and encouraging. Will certainly book again.

Unreal lesson with Shayno this morning who took my dad, brother and I out - we had the best time! I started out scared of the waves and within no time was standing up on the board loving it. Our expectations were totally exceeded with how many waves we all caught - massive props to Shayno for his awesome coaching and motivation the whole time 🤌🏽🤩

We have had 2 x 3 day sessions with my 10 and 12 yr olds w Shayno! They had a ball and skills improved a lot. Shayno and his crew are great at engaging the kids and even drawing in the reluctant ones (like my older son!). Thanks, we will be back!

Amazing surf lesson and definitely a Yamba highlight. Shayne was so passionate and made the lesson incredibly fun, the kids loved it. 100% recommend!

Surf Camp Down Under was unbelievably good.

After surfing for 30 years and spending thousands of dollars on equipment and travel this was some of the best money I have ever invested in surfing and absolutely transformative for me.

The real time feedback on the beach throughout the surfs and then the group video reviews back at the accom were right on point. Rather than overwhelming me with too many things to try, the coaches gave me just one thing at a time to focus on. By the end of the weekend I was surfing the best I’ve ever surfed.

Shayne, Court, Maxi and Powelly are legends. They created such a positive experience for our group of ten which included different levels of surfing from beginners to experienced.

It’s hard to believe that I could enjoy surfing any more than I already did, but my enjoyment has been magnified by this crew. Thanks so much team.

Had an amazing day with surf camp. In my 40s and second time trying surfing and had one of the best days on the water with a mixed group . Our surf instructor was one of the nicest humans I have ever met. So encouraging and enthusiastic about what he does. Mad the day very memorable. Can't recommend surf camp enough.

My granddaughter had her first ever surf lesson today 24/12/22 & Shayno was brilliant, caring, professional & the results were amazing for her. Shayno supplied the wetsuit & board to match her perfectly. A must do whether it's a group lesson or private. Check it out!!!

We had an amazing experience surfing with Shayno in Yamba. My boyfriend and I had surfed before but Shayno was such a good instructor I learned so much more and felt so confident. Shayno spent time with everyone in the group individually so that he could help correct our form and make sure that by the end of the lesson we were able to stand on our surf boards. Would 100% recommend taking a lesson if you’re passing through Yamba

Shanyo was fantastic with my kids(9,6), who were first-time surfers. He has great energy, and the kids responded so well. Highly recommend. Super Coach and Super Guy. My kids are hooked.

Brilliant early morning surf lesson with Shayne on 25th Jan. Shayne was a brilliant intructor, catering to all ages and abilities. He made sure everyone had individual guided support encouragement and feedback. Shayno is the best! Cannot recommend this legend highly enough. We’ve had family surf lessons and lessons with blokes. His enthusiasm and passion is the same no matter your age! My kids had a ball.

Shane, Courtney and the whole team at Surf Camp Down Under were amazing with the kids! Not only did they really help them to learn how to surf, and do so safely, it was non stop fun the whole time! The kids still can’t stop talking about it, and Shane even managed to get Mum and Dad on a board!
We will definitely be back again.

This not only didn’t disappoint, but exceeded our expectations by a country mile.
What an absolute weapon. Amazing teacher, patient, encouraging and super down to earth. Getting waves with a few friends and your personal hype crew is the only way I’ll surf from now on!
Even if you haven’t surfed before this guy will get you on waves and increase your confidence in the water no matter what.
