The best fish and chips in Perth. Cooked to perfection, just like back in England. Good value, too.
They also have some homemade deserts in the fridge if you are feeling particularly hungry (or just being gluttonous like me).

We’ve ordered from The Old Trout numerous of times and have found their packages have great non-greasy fish and chips with very generous serves. It’s the only batter our toddler will eat!! The ordering & service has been flawless and so easy every time. Highly recommend!

The batter is light and fluffy. Scoops of chips are generous and are always well cooked in regularly changed oil.

The service is always awesome and you get great value for money.

They have a good variety of different fish and if you look in their fridge you will find a selection of individual precooked meals. (Not fish and chips)

Great fresh fish and chips. The oil is fresh and nothing it too oily (as far a fried food goes). The pre-made meals are fabulous as well.

Delicious fish, perfectly cooked, great batter. Miscommunication on the phone resulting in less fish being served (likely my own fault for blundering the phone order), but I was offered the missing fish freely and without issue (I should have at least paid for it). Good service and nice people.

I've lived in Basso for 3 years and had my first old trout experience this evening.
We ordered crab sticks, chips, hake and barra. I can easily say it's one of the best fish and chip shops that I've tried and will definitely be back again!
Extra points for the yummy hake and crab sticks - very difficult to find!

By far my favourite fish and chip shop!! The girls always provide amazing and friendly service, the portions are generous,good quality and well priced.They also have a great selection of salads, desserts and ready to go meals, all delicious 🤤

The food is lovely and staff too. Nice venue and great gf options. Clean and well kept shop. I ask for my chips well cooked and that’s what I get. I feel if you are ordering and it’s wrong , give a second chance and Be clear how you like your food cooked .

Amazing fish and chips - excellent value, large portions and the fish is really well cooked with a crispy batter and is not oily. The fresh meals from the fridge are incredible - so tasty. Can't fault anything!

2days ago while we at swan valley recommend by our farm stay lady host Keller b&b. It's ready tasty fish with crushy batter even after 30min out in winter night n lots of not oily chip.need to wait for 10min as it's fried when ordered. But it's worth the wait.

Hubby and I tried their seafood basket two weeks ago, although I was slightly concerned the shellfish would be overcooked, but, no, I was wrong.

The seafood basket includes snapper, prawns, scallops, mussels and chips. And everything was cooked to perfection.

Light and crispy batter, sweet succulent seafood - food that is better cooked and of quality better than some posh restaurants.

Tonight, we've come back for another seafood platter. And we were not disappointed. I highly recommend them if you love seafood.

Fish n Chips ordered, was delicious. The batter on the fish was light while the fish was moist and chips were crisp too. Value for money 2 fish and 2 scoops of chips $11 and service is top notch too

Best fish and chips this side of town, probably for miles around too, plus one can score a delicious tabouli or curry from the fridge if one does quite feel like battered or grill fish.
