Staying at Sharpys Chalet, simply a perfect base over the Easter break that had us attending the Omeo Rodeo, Dinner Plain Polo at Cobungra Station, bush walking on the alpine tracks, mountain bike rides to Mt Hotham and enjoying the company of family and friends in a relaxed environment.
We'll be back very soon!

Dinner Plain sits just outside the Alpine National Park so there's no resort entry fee in winter (about $60 per day) and dogs are allowed 🐶

It's a relatively small village where you can walk around the main road in about 15 minutes. There are 2 pubs and a few cafes and restaurants, plus ski hire, small supermarket, and a few other bits and pieces.

All of the lodges have a similar architectural style using muted blue, green and grey colours that complement the bush surrounds.

The village sits at just under 1600m altitude with a bit less snow than Mount Hotham 20 minutes up the road. There's a beginner ski slope with a poma as well as plenty of trails for cross country.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Area was beautiful, cabins were cozy and the view was spectacular. Nice little community with bars, pub, restaurant, cafe. Very very happy. Thank you to the community of Dinner Plains.

This will be our go-to snow place from now on! Family friendly and best of all it’s FREE! You can also allowed to bring the car inside the village even if you’re not staying on-mountain unlike other Alpine resorts. The toboggan run was massive! Lots of fun and action on the long and wide slopes!

Went for the weekend to introduce our pup to snow and he loved it. We rented some snowshoes and explored around the area, I would highly recommend coming for a weekend and introducing your dog to snow.

Australia's Greatest Snowplay with beginner ski slope, two toboggan runs, sled dogs & more. Free entry & dog friendly, it's the snow holiday worth sharing

Great little village with cafes, playground and restaurants in summer for a family stay. Make sure if you have enough supplies for your stay as the nearest grocery supermarket is in Omeo and there are limited items available in the local store.

Only visited the Stables Cafe for lunch. Only time I've had a great coffee, muffin & toastie at the one place. Great staff & thankyou for the Freddo frogs.

A few minutes drive from Mount Hotham in Victoria's high country this resort village offers various accommodation and dining options including the highly popular Ramada Resort and Elements Restaurant. Be warned though, a number of establishments close during the warmer months of the year and if your stay is at a self catering venue stock up with supplies and fuel at either Bright or Omeo. Well worth the visit.

Good place for kids. Advisable to stay for 2 nights especially after spending 4 hours driving. You need a day to enjoy the place.

Dinner Plains is a perfect getaway to enjoy the alpine atmosphere and the snowy weather. While it's not a major resort like Mount Hotham or Mount Buller, it's not without it's own charm. The resort has not entry fee, so if you are more interested in leisurely strolling through a wintery village and interested in doing a bit of amateur level skiing, then this is the best place. The drive up to Dinner Plain through Mount Hotham on the Great Alpine Road is very picturesque and takes through endless fields of snow during the season. Be prepared to drive with wheel chains if you visit during the winter season.

The best stay, snow right outside your room, longest toboggan run, food is also good at the restaurants here.

Sensational village. If not staying, even a walk around the streets is great. Some lovely trails closeby too.
