Rossiters Hut

Great little hut on the Heysen Trail for an overnight stay or picnic stop. Has 6 bunk beds, indoor fireplace, tables and chairs, rainwater tank and longdrop toilet. Put food in the bucket provided overnight as there are mice. Walk to top of the adjacent hill for great views and sunsets.

A beautiful stop for an overnight hiking trip with a fire place, 6 bunks, water and a long drop. Amazing views over the valley with sunsets that you will want to last forever. If you are heading that way I recommend making it a stop for the night!

auch ich bin einmal hier auf dem Heysen Trail unterwegs gewesen und ein paar Kilometer gewandert. Das gehört glaube ich dazu, wenn man mal hier im Barossa Valley eine Weile verbringt. Der Heysen Trail ist ein sehr alter Wanderpfad, den schon die Ureinwohner benutzt haben und später die ersten weißen Siedler.
Ein kleines Stück Geschichte kann man hier erleben. Die Hütte ist groß genug um Schutz bei schlechtem Wetter oder in der Nacht zu finden. Es gibt eine Toilette, Frischwasser und einen Picknickplatz. Die Benutzung ist frei aber man sollte bevor man sich hier nieder lässt auf Schlangen achten, denn das hier ist Braun Schlangen Land.

Shared with one mouse who made a lot of overnight noise getting into my chocolate bar!
Would stay there again.

The trail from LKS road onwards is rocky, steep and certain parts are very loose so a 4x4 would be recommended but not needed.
The hut is in relatively good condition, in need of some repairs and a good clean.
Fire place is excellent and there is no excess of fire wood if you have the drive ( and your own saw ).
The hut has lots of useful cooking tools and spider removing brooms need you find the latter necessary.
A great heritage site that I would love to see addition's made to.

No public access, we tried but unable to drive to this location.
