The Island Accommodation

We had a great private room with ensuite and had a lovely, friendly check-in experience! Location was very easy to get to from Melbourne and ~20 min drive from the Penguin Parade at the other end of the island. There's a cafe right next door that does great breakfast. Overall would 100% recommend for those looking for budget accommodation on Phillip Island!

Really happy stay here with the kids for a couple of days in school holidays. Great facilities, lovely staff and travelling on my own with the kids I felt safe too. We will be back with the rest of the family.

Everything was of top standard,nothing too much trouble,room,kitchen,bathroom was clean and well maintained Lisa on reception was so friendly.

The Island Accommodation is a very well priced budget option for staying in Phillip Island. The rooms are just okay though with a small TV, average pillows and poor bathroom ventilation. The heating is excellent though. The communal kotchen was well stocked with everything you could want for cooking. The TV room was also excellent. The 10:30pm closure time for communal spaces was an inconvenience for adults but I can see why they have it as many families use the accommodation. Overall, a good recommend on a budget!

Beautiful hostel, one of the best hostels in Australia and affordable as well, compared with city hostels this is a 10.

Took a school group here recently. Great experience. Great location, Clean comfortable rooms, good food and staff were friendly and helpful and booked some great activities for us including Archy's surf, Clip n Climb, Penguin Parade and Ten Pin bowling and laser tag, which was great to support the local business community as well. Hope to go back here soon. Tx guys

I must say I was very impressed with the accommodation in general. I live in Sydney and did a road trip to Melbourne and Phillip Island. When booking I saw a few bad reviews and was a little apprehensive, and after a very frustrating stay in Melbourne, I was very concerned about the following days in Phillip Island. In the end, Phillip Island was the best part of the trip and the accommodation factored in this. I got the private ensuite with my husband, the room was very comfortable and clean, they had a huge fully equipped shared kitchen and a big cinema room. Though I didn't use it because I got the private ensuite I saw they had shared toilets/showers. And they have a laundry room on the ground floor. The only thing I would give an upgrade to was the pillows that were very thin, but not a big problem. It is very well located, close to the bridge, walking distance to a small centre with restaurants and supermarket and easy car access to the rest of the island. 10/10!

I traveled around Australia for 4 months, and this was by far the nicest hostel we stayed in. It was very modern, clean and decorated nicely. Everything looked new. I was especially pleased by the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms.

The kitchen and lounge area is very spacious. The cafe downstairs is pretty pricey, but it's nice that there's an option for something quick but good to eat.

The customer service at the front desk was great. There were about 10 of us in the group and they were super patient with us. They gave us maps and highlighted the best places for us to visit in our weekend there.

I would recommend anyone visiting Philip Island to stay at this hostel. We had a great time here and I would 100% go back!

Great location and very reasonably priced. A friendly welcome when I arrived, and I got some info about places to eat and walk in the area from the lady at reception. Room was a 4 bed dorm (2 bunks), with a bathroom. First one I've stayed in like this, and is great if you need the bathroom in the night - no fumbling around for keys in the dark! There were other shared bathrooms down the corridor, so no fighting for the shower. I shared with 2 lovely girls and a guy. I wasn't 100% sure when I booked if the rooms were mixed, not an issue, but worth pointing out. I didn't make use of the lounge or kitchen areas, but the whole place was clean and modern. Would definitely stay again.

Wow, for the price it was fine. It was very clean. Very family friendly. It's great for those short stays and for those only using the place to sleep...T.V. was small but that was fine as we were always going out. Lovely staff at the front desk and friendly.

Fantastic experience! The rooms were really nice and the facilities were well maintained and super clean. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Can't rave enough! Definitely a return traveler!

I stayed in this hostel for more than a month and I loved every moment of my stay! There is a fully equipped kitchen (there were even freezers), a tv-room with movies and games, a lounge area with a ping pong table and board games and a rooftop from where you have a wonderful view on the water. All the common areas and bedrooms are clean and spacious and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this hostel for both short-term and long-term stay!

Great experience, clean beds and shower. I think it's perfect for backpackers and the location is easily accessible from a lot of the main attractions. Friendly staff as well. Definitely recommended!

I booked this place really because it was the best we could find on New Year’s Eve in Phillip Island.

We don’t usually do hostel type accom w our kids .. well we never had before. I was a bit daunted by the whole share-bathroom thing and how that would work w our kids ..

However I was so pleasantly surprised! It was great. Staff lovely, room super clean and spacious enough (we had our own room for the 5 of us), beds/pillows comfy, shared bathrooms clean/perfect.

I also thought we would have been awake all night w New Year’s Eve revellers (we were a bit boring and went to bed pre midnight!) but we didn’t hear a thing!

Linen was provided (but not towels) but that’s ok. Totally recommend.

The accommodation is very close to bus stop of Newhaven if take VLine from Melbourne, and it is new, clean and tidy. A big kitchen with a big refrigerator, frozen and big shelves for food storing. The toilet and shower rooms are always bright and clean so I can totally enjoy a comfortable hot shower after a tiring day. The security of the room is good by touching card and there are many plugs in the room and public area. I never have to worry about recharge problems here. People at reception are always friendly and nice to show me the way of visiting nearby. By the way, bike rental is also available here...really convenient!!!

Had a great stay here at The Island Accommodation. The staff upon arrival were lovely and helped us get to grips with the local area. The room was spacious and very clean. The location of the hotel is fantastic also as the local town Newhaven and San Remo are lovely places to walk and shop. I would definitely recommend The Island Accommodation!

this is the best hostel in whole australia. It is very clean and tidy. The bathrooms are excellent and the rooms are fantastic.
It is close to the beach and there are many shops close to you.
The whole team who works there is very friendly and helpful.

Stay there and go to the penguins and enjoy your time there.

My first hostel experience and The Island Accommodation has set the bar high! I stayed in a 6-pax dorm and it was clean and spacious. The bathrooms are great as well. Highly recommended!

Having stayed at 5 other YHA hostles I can say that I was very impressed upon arriving here. The hostle is clean and well run with an adjoining cafe that does nice breakfast and lunchtime meals. The floors are neat and easy to navigate with a large well equipped kitchen on each floor that even includes an oven! I got a bit excited about this as none of the other hostles I stayed at had one.
Im staying in a 6 bed room which is surprisingly spacious for a hostle and the beds are very comfortable.
The bathroom facilities are shared per floor although some of the suits have an ensuite toilet and shower with soaps, shampoos and towels provided.
There are common areas with a TV and a ping pong table as well as a roof space that looks out over the sea.
One of the few downsides is a lack of free Internet access that other YHAs offer and you have to pay per hour for this service but it works out as only 0.40c per hour.
Accessibility to the local town of Cowes is a bit difficult if you don't have your own transport but there is a bus route that runs in or you can rent bikes.
There are also a number of cafes and restaurants around to try. So all in all a very good stay and a 5star for the YHA
