Smokey Cape Retreat Guesthouse

We have spent 2 nights at this quaint guest house. Mary and Ken are the perfect hosts. Our little cavoodle Abbey was warmly welcomed and played with the resident doggies while we unpacked the car.
The rooms were spotless and Ken said not to hesitate to see him should we require anything. A lovely stay and would 100% recommend if you want to get away from it all. Thank you Mary and Ken ❤

Gorgeous place to stay and pet friendly which was fantastic as we had our dog with us. We only stayed one night but would happily stay longer. Were recommended to go to the Tavern for dinner as they allow dogs but at 7pm on a Saturday night they were full so would definitely recommend booking if you need an outside table. We had takeaways from the Thai instead which was actually really good. The Smokey Cape Retreat guesthouse is a superb spot!

Beautiful location, excellent hosts, and pet friendly. This is now our go-to accommodation between Brisbane and Sydney. Purpose built accommodation in a relaxing location.

Ken and Mary are beautiful hosts and make you feel so welcome. South West Rocks is a lovely place to visit as well.

Please DO NOT stay at this amazing place (we are concerned that when we want to return, there may not be a vacancy)!! Seriously, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room, and bathroom were massive and spotlessly clean and comfortable. Mary and Ken are the most gracious, chilled, fun and thoughtful hosts and made us feel very welcome. We cannot thank you enough and we will definitely be back. Oh, and the little greetings from the bird made us smile ... we got a 'hello' when we arrived and a 'bye-bye' when we left. Such a beautiful, quiet, peaceful location ... we cannot recommend this beautiful Guest House highly enough. Please visit ... but not when we want to go!!

We are coming back, Absolutely spot on, the King Room with spa is awesome, the property is a tranquil escape. Thankyou Ken & Mary, Lots of talk from the Galah ..gorgeous bird.
Also the weather turned it on but..didn't stop us going down to the Riverside Tavern ( made booking) Saturday night, Food on point! Top spot!

Beautiful overnight stay @Smokey Cape Retreat. The room we booked was spacious, clean & so very comfortable. Ken & Mary made us feel incredibly welcome upon arrival; we’d privacy, peace & tranquility. The gardens were beautiful & we woke up to sounds of native birds… such a treat from the daily grind.
If it weren’t mid-July, we’d have swam in the pristine pool & used their extensive BBQ facilities.
We had a terrific secluded getaway. We’d recommend this place to our friends & family.

It's not often you find a place that welcomes animals, and this place is so welcoming to them, you are even welcomed with a "Hello" by one when you arrive.

The hosts were very kind, informing, and have made the whole place look wonderful. I especially loved that you are welcome to wander around the gardens, use the BBQ area/camp kitchen, and the swimming pool.

The price was excellent for what they offered. I spent quite some time looking for a decent priced room in the area, and was expecting only half the size and quality of what I found for the price.

Great value for dog-friendly accomm, it’s away from the town but only 3mins from Coles & the bottle shop. The retreat is in a lovely bush setting with the sounds of so many native birds. Ken & Mary the lovely older couple who own it make you feel like family. Our dog loved exploring the grounds and chilling by the pool with us. Huge spa, high ceilings, clean room, we were very happy with our overnight stopover. Def worth an extra few kms drive off the highway if driving between Brisbane and Sydney and needing somewhere relaxing for an evening or two. Try the local seafood at the co-op down the road and for dog-friendly dinner and lunch options, Riverside tavern was great, and by the water, about ten mins drive.

The only thing we regret is that we could stay only one night. The room was very comfortable (wondefully large bathroom), beautiful surroundings and Ken - our host - very helpful and friendly.

Honestly Smokey Cape Retreat Was such a nice little stay. We absolutely loved it.

The staff were helpful and so friendly, also a very beautiful & talkative galah to welcome you.

The rooms were massive & clean. All Linens, Towels, fresh milk and soaps provided in rooms.
Parking was also easy and onsite. Fans in all rooms, heaters providers and an aircon in the bed room. Blinds for privacy.
Hand rails in the double shower that is easily accessible . A Large tv with sound bar that connects to streaming services in the lounge area with 2 recliners.

Also free wifi provided.

Quiet and safe area with a local Coles & IGA within a 5 minute drive. Dog friendly Beach within a few minutes driver also.

This is a Pet friendly stay and our lilttle Pup loved it too, plenty of grass for her needs also.

Perfect place to stay with your fur child. Room was very clean and exceeded my expectations. Owners Mary and Ken are lovely people and the setting was quiet and relaxing. Plenty of grass and shade for our Louie to wander around. Pool was perfect for a cooling dip during the afternoon. Also communal camp kitchen is well appointed for those who don’t want to dine out. Great find!!

We stayed here and had the most wonderful experience. A beautiful bush land setting and the rooms are just amazing. Loved the outdoor kitchen and enjoyed playing tennis. We would not hesitate to recommend to stay at Smoky cape retreat for a great relaxing stay. Will be back.

We had a lovely time staying here, the retreat is so peaceful and the rooms are generous and comfortable, with lovely views of the gardens. We enjoyed the outdoor bbq area and tennis court. Mary and Ken are friendly and accomodating hosts.
Would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful location.

What a warm and genuine welcome by Mary!! Mary was very accommodating, kind and caring. Our stay was fantastic. The whole vibe of the other guests was so happy. A lovely, much needed retreat for us. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed. Everything was very clean and fresh. Amazing bathroom. May I add that Mary has a cafe at Back Creek which has great coffee, great breakfast, yummy sweets, but to top it off every single staff member was incredibly NICE! Nothing was ever any trouble. All generous serves too. We will be back.

Just beautiful. The rooms are spacious and clean. Nature is everywhere. The hosts were absolutely delightful. We will be going back without question. We HIGHLY recommend this amazing location.

My partner and I are were travelling through on a long interstate journey and called Ken and Mary to see if we could spend the night. They provided exceptional hospitality. We enjoyed our evening and the retreat was a truly wonderful place. So clean and tidy with many thoughtful bits you would need to spend the night. Thank you so much and we can’t wait to return!

Stayed last night, mary and ken was so professional and friendly, rooms was amazing to stay in, big comfortable bed, the rooms was fresh and clean, very lovely place to take Ur pet and relax, Mary and ken have done a great job turning the guest house in to what it is today, well done.

Lovely place to stay with a nice atmosphere. Large room with a beautiful view and gardens. Mary was very accommodating and friendly, and a very cute galah says welcomes you at the door too!

The room had plenty of heating, private bathroom with a shower over bath, iron and board, Netflix, coffee/tea making facilities and a bar fridge.
