Update: Recently this place has really upped their game! Fish is soft and fresh, batter is thin and crispy.... beef croquet is flavourful... everything is so delicious!
Keep it up! I will be a regular! :) :)

After reading so many bad reviews, I was happily surprised by the decent meal. The fish burger was nice, thin soft bread, batter wasn't too oily & fish was not dry. The chips and fish cake were not bad. Only the potato scallops were overcooked. All in all though, they got the order correct and taste was alright. Will come again :)

Really yummy chips. Got the works fish burger. fish batter was light and crunchy fish was really nice. And the fillings on the burger let me tell you they do not skimp. Burger was super tasty. I couldn't finish it though.

Only place in the Northern beaches that sells ocean cought redthrout emperor. Beautiful flaky 2 cm thick fillets crumbed well and lovely chips,definitely the best in the Northern beaches in mackay.

We had delicious fish and chips and so reasonably priced! We will be back!

Omg those chips took me back 30 yrs ago the flavour was spot on and how chips should be cooked

Holy Diggy dog, so happy with my food. Legit just finished eating. I had been absolutely craving classic salty fish and chips. I got a meal from doordash, fish, large chips, two scallops and a gravy. Under 40 dollars including the delivery fee. So many chips, eyes were definitely too big but damn they were good. Fish was delicious and cooked perfectly even my cats loved it. Scallops were fantastic too though definitely only need one. 10/10. I love whoever made my food.

My first time at Vellas Fish Bar at Rural View. Definitely will be returning. They make real burgers in a generous size.
After this I’ll never go to the franchised places that every time you go the burger is smaller & smaller. It’s a breath of fresh air to find this place.

Mixed reviews on here, I wouldn’t trust the reviews from someone who’s only reviews once or twice. The truth is we’ve had a few meals and they’ve all been really good. Order early on the phone if you don’t want to wait. Otherwise you will wait like 40mins some days. Other days 15 mins. If you don’t get through just ring again in 5. They are really busy during the times you want to order for a reason. They are that popular. Some days I unfortunately think understaffed though.
Regarding the fish? Well, we’ve only ever had it cooked perfectly. Buttery and melts in your mouth. Chips crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Our favourite is the Pineapple fritters with the must have of cinnamon sugar!

Review only in regards to the chips, I haven't had any other product from here.

Large servings, crispy and very delicious chips. Takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare and we always phone our order in and its ready to be picked up by the time we come. Good value for money. Highly recommended for their chips

I ordered last Saturday at the rural view store and the girl that served me was lovely, she also made my burger and it was beautifully made and put together, I went to sydney street last night and their food was overcooked and burger was sloppy, i have been told different owners tho but thank you for good service

Perfect battered or crumbed fish and fluffy crispy chips. The burgers are mouth watering and require 2 hands to eat. Lovely staff.

Good portion size, quick service, tasted great will be back again.

I ordered the mince works burger with a half scoop of chips and practically inhaled it. So so good.

We buy all our fish and chip from Vella's unless they are closed
