Delicious authentic French food! Atmosphere is nice as it’s not a big restaurant with a rustic feel. Every bite was amazing, let hubby order as he is originally from France and he approved of every dish. Would definitely be back to try the dishes that we missed as we were very full and also seems like BYO available as table next to us brought their own bottle. However they also had great choices of wine there available.

We didn't make any booking for this weekend lunch, but luckily we were seated at Balcony where giving delightful atmosphere.
The waiter introduced the menu items one by one.
We ordered 2 snacks, 2 entrees and one main for sharing, the dish portion is perfect for us.
Entree- Tartare and Pate were stimulating my appetite.
For Main course, the filling sweetness was completely enhancing with Whiting's flavour and nice touch with beurre blanc.
🤞 we will visit again!

If you want to teleport to Paris - this is your place to be. I really lost the understanding that o was actually in Sydney.
1) staff was extremely friendly and nice. Thank you Tony - you made us feel like we came for a dinner to a friends house
2) the food is definitely French and is very tasty. My favorites are warm oysters, mussels on toast, saucisson and also the dessert “île flottante”
3) the atmosphere is very nice - you are teleporting to a nice French bistrot when you are entering.
Definitely will be back:)

Am a fan of Porcine! I know what the hype is about! Cute venue with thoughtful and playful touches. Menu might seem intimidating at first but team was quick to share more about the dishes. Lots of new dishes for me, expected the food to be heavy but it was delightful contrast of flavours and texture. Well planned dishes that seem to work well no matter what we chose.

Incredible. Unassuming and very casual setting but professional. The cooking technique and execution is the best I’ve seen outside of France, and maybe better than what they do. So happy to see the forgotten art of pate en croute.
Thank you!

2024: (5 stars)
Delicately encrusting South Coast trevally fillets with potato scales ($48) then serving them in a Champagne veloute with wilted watercress and a retro squiggle of watercress puree is pretty twee. Ain’t nobody got time for that level of Paul Bocuse-inspired perfection in their day-to-day. But, as chef Nik Hill said when he landed the dish on my table, “classics never go out of fashion”. We just stop having the time to turn pork jowl, neck, shoulder and bacon into a farce, create a smoked ham and sherry aspic, grill and pickle peppers, and wrap the lot in pastry for a stunning pâté Basque en croûte ($32). Luckily for us, Hill is there at Porcine to remind us of the dishes our fast-paced world has robbed from us.

The magic starts with puffy gougère ($6/each) draped in translucent pepper belly that startle with bursts of liquid Comté. Oozing cheese is also the centrepiece of the ‘coulant de chèvre’ ($34): basically a chocolate lava cake remade in savoury with goats’ cheese and a crisp cheese scone-like exterior. Its richness is cut by onion confit and frisée; wine helps too. While the by-the-glass selection felt a bit limited, especially considering their location over a bottle shop, the 2020 Terre de l’Elu ‘La Confiance’ Chenin Blanc ($19/glass) was a good, medium bodied companion drink. We ended the meal much as it began, marvelling over a beautifully presented salad: summer vegetables ‘Provençal’ ($25). It had me resolving to make the time to present my next salad this abundantly, laid out like a garden across a plate.

2022: (4.5 stars)
The salty sea lick of my vodka martini ($18) was the perfect way to unwind into dinner in this sunset-facing first floor bistro over a bottle-o. Freshly shucked oysters ($4.50/each) were a given, particularly against a tangy smoked eel vinaigrette. We moved onto a similarly maritime Georges Deschamps 2019 Chablis ($105) for the meat courses, that kicked off with a rustic pork creton with lentils ($16). This dish obligates you to buy bread’n’butter ($3/person) to smear it upon but you won’t mind so much when you see they’re both made in-house by mod. British chef, Nik Hill. He’s also fond of a quality chippy, so be a devil and get some frites ($10) as well.

Ox tongue and foie gras pâté-en-croûte ($28) was the indulgent show-stopper, as we worked our way through a tart garden of spring vegetables ($20) and a more soothing mound of raw fish with roe on toast ($22). Tender arms of baby octopus with espelette sausage ($29) rounded out our selections at Porcine, for a pricy meal of stuff we’d rarely tackle in our kitchen at home. The passage of the bill was lubricated by a complimentary vermouth delivered by an engaged and friendly floor team. I can see why this one is popular.

Delicious food, friendly service and nice ambiance. The “tarte feuille” is a must try, and so is the sugarloaf pork and juniper.

It’s probably our 5th visit to Porcine. And it won’t be the last! Quality ingredients, interesting twists on classic French dishes and nice service. Cherry on top, a nice beer list - Sydney restaurants please take note… Highlight today was the cassoulet

A new favourite in a big week of dining out. This Salle à Manger is like a secret you don't want to share, this perfect sized dining room with a muted intimacy and noise attenuation subtlety across the ceiling, I couldn't flaw anything about it. French, informal but perfect food with a yes, porcine direction to it. The endive apple salad and vinaigrette transported me to France and the pork was all well executed. I'll come again and have wine to complete the experience. Meanwhile the apple Kombucha has just the right acidity for the richness of the meat dishes. The virtuosity and elegance of our waitresses explanations brought the food to life as well as any such performance, surpassed only by her gentle blue eyes and muted ballerina hand movements. The whole experience is poised perfection with some added humour and relaxed charm; the french decor is all there yet not overstated or cluttered. The entire experience felt so calm and welcoming. I felt at home here.

I've had two outstanding group meals at this restaurant - one in winter, one in summer. The menu has been very different each time, but all a really interesting and quality twist on classic French bistro. It's high quality cooking with great ingredients that have been intelligently sourced. The wine list is super (or you can pay corkage on something from P&V wine bar on the ground level) and the service is impeccable from experienced staff who clearly care but are also very relaxed.

Something of an under-rated jewel on the Oxford Street strip, I'd strongly recommend this for a celebratory group dinner.

Escargot, onion soup and steak are probably some of the classic dishes you may expect from a French restaurant. However Porcine plays a total different game while still using traditional French cooking method. In some way I really enjoy this more than the usual. It was a tough decision to pick from the menu as many things seemed very attractive. Eventually the approach we took was to sample more smaller dishes while leaving the mains behind. Of course there was also a reserved spot for dessert!

I have to confuse I find it hard to describe the taste as the combination is very new to my pallet. Perhaps the least I can say is that everything was very balanced and I love every single dish. Nothing is overly heavy and different texture counterbalanced every ingredient on the plate. Nothing is wasted. That includes the sauce..and you must get some bread so you can wipe the plate cleaned 😜

== What we ordered ==

• Celtuce, anchovy & lardo
• Scallop, Prawn, Snapper & Roe
• “Rillette” Pork, eel, whipped foie gras & apple - with duck fat bread
• Royale of Smoked eel, turnips & garlic
• Cepe Jam, Raclette & WA Manjimup Truffle
• “Paris best praline rose” blackberry ice cream

Superb spot for a lazy Sunday lunch in Paddington. Service was warm and attentive. The food is incredibly rich, French cuisine. If the Duck special is available, I highly recommend ordering it. But the highlight is the Floating Dessert which is utterly sublime (and light), necessary after going through all the bread, oysters, entree and mains.

Just absolutely delicious of a restaurant.

Located on top of P&V (a wine shop known for its natural wines). There is an option to BYO your own bottle with a $25 corkage, so no issues if you want to grab a bottle downstairs before your dinner.

The menu is done so well. My only thing is the pie felt a little bit too dry - perhaps it was my personal preference to have it more moist.

Mussel toast and the scallop to start was just a great entrance into the mains.

The ox tongue is an absolute must and was the absolute star of the night. Never had I had anything so tender and flavourful - a must try.

Hearty French bistro with a comforting and welcoming ambience & friendly staff

We enjoyed the Calves Shin, Snail & Garlic Pie the most!

And a special mention to the Chocolate Tart with prune Ice cream - my partner did not give me a chance to try much however, it was that good!

What is not to love about a restaurant named “Pig”. The food was tremendous and in healthy but not overdone amounts. We had a good sampling which was easy with the food offerings legibly displayed on a chalk board visible to dining patrons. Porcine sells a book created during Covid with pig butchering instructions and recipes. A delightful purchase and takeaway to ‘try’ to replicate the delicious food we enjoyed. A French bistro above a bottle shop. Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6pm-11pm. Saturday, Sunday 12pm-4pm. 268 Oxford Street Paddington, Sydney 2021.

On top of the bottle shop, porcine is a head to tail all things pork. This a casual French bistro done well. I first came here before the big lockdown in winter and they had the fireplace going and it’s very romantic. Fast forward to Post lockdown, I came back with a larger group of friends and they all enjoyed the food. Each time I came the dishes are different.

So excited about this new restaurant!

Since we arrived in Sydney a bit more than a year ago, we have been looking for restaurants/bistros with great food and casual/fun vibes. We feel like we finally found THE place (which reminds us a lot of our favorite restaurant back home). Porcine’s food is French, but not too French and full of creative flavors and combinations.

We had the eel salad, mussels on toast, artichoke in chicken liver sauce, snail pie and wrapped it up with the “île flottante”. Everything was delicious (with special love for the mussels).

Already can’t wait to go back!
