The Taste of Village

Being a vegetarian travelling to Sydney for a holiday, I was looking for a good place for dining on Indian food. Having tried multiple restaurants over the last few days, found this one to be the best I've had here to date - large number of vegetarian options, authentic Indian taste, had great service, honestly priced dishes and is conveniently located (walkable) from the homebush train station.

Planning to come back here a few more times before leaving Sydney!

I recently dined at this newly opened Indian restaurant, and I was blown away by the ambiance. It's like dining in a royal palace. The food was not just delicious but also beautifully presented. The staff was warm and welcoming, making it a memorable evening.

Ordered the Dal Tadka, Butter Chicken, Garlic and Classic Naan, Mutton Briyani, Mango Lassi and Raita. Everything tasted amazing. Naan was perfectly baked and charred, butter chicken curry had a perfect blend of tomato and spices. Dal Tadka tasted very fresh and scrumptious. Raita was a perfect balance to the spices of the dishes, while the Mango Lassi was very refreshing. Service was 10/10 as we were promptly attended to, and recommended dishes.

The cheese naan is a hit, and tonight we tried the Village Chicken curry which was super tasty. Have also enjoyed the other dishes too Thanks for looking after us when we come. :)

Great variety of authentic Indian dishes. Highly recommend their butter chicken.

I must be honest, I rarely eat Indian. This restaurant may have just changed that. Its cosy, fantastic lighting and clean. The warm welcoming friendly staff know exactly how to treat customers. The food is fresh, presented perfectly and super tasty. They dont hava a wine list, so BYO. Highly recommend this authentic Indian restaurant. 1/7/2023.

We've come here twice. The butter chicken is really good and the naan bread is exceptional. Also can recommend anything from the tender. The chicken is wonderful. We had a biryani: spicy, Very tasty. The staff were really nice. We brought a little boy. He's just one and was wandering around the restaurant and was picked up on cared briefly for while we were eating our meal. The price is quite good also. And the prawns are fresh and juicy

Introduced by my friend, saying she has been craving for this for 3 years when she’s stuck in China. Finally she’s back now and we decided to pay a visit.

A small and cozy restaurant, not many tables, there’s about 5 or 6 tables at the front. There’s more at the back but I didn’t go to the back to check it out.

Staff gave us some time to choose and also recommend us some stuff. Quite professional and they actually change the plate for us after the starter, I’m surprised!

I don’t exactly remember what’s the actual name of those dishes, so I will name them based on what I know 😂
Goan fisherman curry 5/5
Rarely I will order fish curry in Indian restaurant, but this dish has done its job well. Perfectly cooked fish, tender and juicy and curry is just right. Suitable for you if you don’t like too spicy.

Butter chicken curry 5/5
We are sharing, but I ate almost all of it! Butter taste just right for me but my friend thinks it’s too buttery. But that’s butter chicken curry right!

Lamb curry 5/5
This is quite different from what I have expected, and it turns out quite well. Will be really nice if is using the lamb without bone. The meat is a bit too little.

Tandoori platter 4/5
First time having tandoori prawn and lamb, used to have chicken. It is a little bit salty for me, but the prawn and chicken are perfectly cooked and tasty!

Naan platter 5/5
Chicken and cheese naan and I can’t remember what’s the other one. That’s not enough! Just too nice!! Goes well with the sauce given, love the one with mint

Deep fried sweetcorn 4/5
First time trying this, the sweetcorn is coated with chickpea flour and other spices. Texture is a little bit too hard for me but the taste is wonderful with all the spices coated.

What will I recommend?

You can not imagine in burwood will have such a nice place for Indian food .

Summer night , pass the crowd center walk to Liverpool rd and you will see this low key style restaurant. Hide on main road.

Food was amazing fresh and delicious, you can request spicy level , the kind staff will mark your preferences.

My Indian friends said it is Indian taste, purely.

Dinner only start with 5pm, use to have beer but now is BYO $4 pp.

Veg dish $17-$20 not including rice or roti but can feed at least two adult.

Meat lover dish $22-$25 not including rice or roti . Suitable for one adult.

All entries are nice pick and nothing will go wrong .

Owner of the place is very handsome Indian young man, kind and welcome . Staff are really friendly and helpful, if you don’t know what to choose , please let them know, they will help you .

Suitable for big or small group , but the place is busy all the time , please book before you attend.

Parking available on side and back street.

Have visited this place multiple times. The food and service has always been good. A great variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian options that include sae food as well. The ambience is also very good. The staff is very polite and courteous.

Wow!! This is one of the best Indian restaurant in West Sydney. We landed there after seeing 4.6 rating on Google which they not just justify by quality of food but also the service provided by Nikita and Reshma. They were really attentive and friendly.
The portion size or starters was enough to make us full and it was super yum.
For mains we ordered palak panner which was not so good but was not so bad should have tried something else.
Finished with gulabjamun and rasmalai which was again 10 on 10.
We will definitely be back again soon in a bigger group.

I recently had the pleasure of attending my university batchmates reunion lunch. I must say, it was an unforgettable experience.The banquet was brimming with a delectable array of Indian dishes, all of which were tailored to our preferences upon reservation.

What truly impressed me was the function center, complete with a selection of whiskey and wine. The ambiance was perfect for our gathering, setting the stage for a memorable afternoon.

But it was the impeccable service provided by stewardesses Nikita and Saru that truly stole the show. Their professionalism and friendly demeanor left a lasting impact on all of us. Not only did they cater to our every need, but they also ensured that the dishes were continuously replenished, ensuring that the supply never ran dry. Their sweet smiles, vibrance, and happy faces truly illuminated the function center.
My congratulations to the owner for assembling such a capable and efficient team, both in the kitchen and at the function center.

Amazing food and amazing service too! Workers are so friendly and food is delicious :D Went 2 times and have had absolutely wonderful experiences. The any of the naan breads is a must try - super soft, warm and tender. Chicken curries are amazing, flavourful and not too heavy. Would definitely recommend if you want good Indian food with a good vibe!

It a small place but as they say looks can deceive. Certainly this place did. Went with my friends for a birthday celebration and had a good time. What ever food we have ordered was so authentic and well prepared. For a moment I felt like I was in India. Definitely the restaurant is run by someone who love food.

This place is a hidden jewel. In the most unsuspecting part of Burwood lies this gem of an Indian restaurant. You'll be treated to lovely, authentic flavours and a very reasonably priced menu. Service is pleasant and the vibe is local and relaxed. Aside from being served a bit cold, the entrees were delicious. The biriyani rice was rich, unctuous, fragrant, decadent. The naan cooked to perfection. Curry was flavourful and wholly authentic. Will definitely be back to enjoy the great food here. Thanks team!

Simply the best Indian food I've had in a long long time. I haven't had food like this since my dadima cooked for me as a child.

Ordered off Menulog and waited hours only for the restaurant boss himself to step up and deliver the order himself. This place has excellent service and wonderful staff.

Everything we ordered last night from entree to Butter Chicken to the nan trio were all amazing. People if you're sick of the mediocre and overpriced Chinese food in Burwood Chinatown why not give this place a try when you're in Burwood
