The Statesman Hotel

We had lunch at The Policy. I ordered the little bites barramundi with chips and salad. My friend ordered the chicken parmigiana. Both meals were fantastic. The fish was tasty and the chips were cooked fresh. The parmigiana was the best i had seen in ages.

Lovely place. Very comfortable and clean. Great atmosphere in the bar and outside area. The only thing that needs to be improved is the introduction to the hotel itself. The guy didn't give much diection in terms of room access, parking, access to the main hotel area. Other than that, it is a great little place and I'll definitely stay again.

The food in the restaurant is first class. Nitya the chef has an amazing menu. Can highly recommend the Fijian curry.
Gary runs the bar area and is very helpful, polite , with a great choice of wines.
The renovations have been tastefully done in the pubic areas, preserving the old combined with the new.
The rooms are clean and well maintained, but a little tired.

Overall a great choice for a place to stay if you are visiting Canberra.

Great place. Check in was a bit doozy as number didn't work but a quick phone call sorted it out. Check out was simple, both digital only (no receptionist). Rooms were great, clean and tidy. Private carpark for guests is good but still accessible via public door.

We are local and went back to the Statesman for a meal last night, first since the renovations were done.
The place looks and feels amazing, lovely decor and a warm inviting feeling. Noise level is good and you don't have to yell to make conversation with people at your table.
The food was amazing, quick service and possibly the best schnitzel I have had, with mushroom sauce. Fantastic.
We will be back on a regular basis. Well done on a great refurb !

Was never a fan before the new fitout and haven’t even been inside for years, but thought we would try the new restaurant and it was a very nice surprise, definitely recommend.

It's an underrated hotel, checking in was a bit different then what we expected but it worked out, we were given a passcode for the room and carpark instead of physical keys, other than that the rooms are really neat and tidy, the beds are nice and comfy, there is plenty of space to place all the belongings, there was also power sockets conveniently placed on either side of the bed, the TV is large and easy to see, there is secure car parking with no additional cost, there is also a really nice cafe and bistro at the entrance, the staff are helpful, for the price we paid this is excellent value for money.

Great location for our needs and was still close to tourist areas.

I didn't stay here overnight so i will not comment on the rooms - however have over the past few weeks had lunch and dinner here.
Im pretty impressed - since the refurbishment and the addition of a new head chef this is a perfect place for a meal any time of the day. the décor and feel of the place is -family friendly, modern and comfortable. the meals are amazing - one of the only wood fired steaks i know of in the Canberra region and cooked to perfection. A huge range of tap and bottle beers with a good selection of wines as well.

As others have mentioned the schnitzel is to die for but i cant go past that wood fired charcoal perfectly cooked steak. Amazeballs.

I was so well looked after that I am recommending this warm and welcoming hotel to anyone who is looking for reasonable and very comfortable accommodation within easy access to Civic and Woden shopping centres.
There is a fantastic restaurant attached, a separate bar area, large, quiet conference rooms and a separate area for breakfast with a coffee bar.
All the meals I have had there have been beautifully cooked, meats perfectly done, veggies crunchy roasted, greens al dente. Pasta perfect! I was there for a sad function recently and the staff were very respectful and provided our group with tasty nibbles and a private area, enough space for everyone.
The room I had for the night had very tasteful décor, was peaceful and had such cosy furnishings that as a result, I slept like a baby.
Oh, and the little fridge was so quiet I didn't hear it rattle on or off once and that was a bonus! I've always been able to hear the fridge, sometimes so noisy I've unplugged them!

Went there for dinner, Barramundi, salad and chips were really good. Also the mixed grill was enjoyable. I was told it needed lambs fry

More than impressed with the accommodation. Cafe, Lunch and Dinner Facilities. Will definitely stay again if in Canberra. Digital Booking-In procedure was a new concept without a hitch, just had to read the Step-by-Step Instructions on the Mobile Phone. Some Guests may find it a little awkward if their experiences with technology is limited but with patience and if needed assistance is on call. Still a Reception Desk cannot be forgotten.

Good accommodation plenty of confort, good service, clean and tidy. Would recommend that a lot.

We didn't stay here but visited family who were. Rooms were nice my family said room servicing was really good. we had dinner here and the food was great. Service was very quick and restaurant was busy. Bar Staff were nice and friendly. Definitely come back here again.

Booked online but my elderly parents who have mobility issues had a room automatically allocated on the second floor (no lift). Fantastically helpful and friendly staff sorted this problem quickly and easily by giving us ground floor rooms. Rooms are well-renovated, beds were comfortable and the motel is quiet. Restaurant and cafe are great with friendly staff. Great part of Canberra. I recommend the Statesman.
