Platypus Campground, Danbulla National Park and State Forest

Wonderful campsite right on the lake. A great location in the middle of nature. Especially enjoying the sunset with lake view was a highlight. Toilets were clean. But amenities are sparsely equipped (no shower, no electricity, no light, no soap). You just have to know what to expect. But the location makes up for everything. Highly recommended.

Absolutely lovely spot, weather was a mixed bag, but even when overcast, it could not detract from the beauty of this place. I will certainly be heading back here to camp for a night or 2 on my next visit

Beautiful, relaxing, here on a Sunday camping through to Monday it's peaceful right on the water couldn't ask for more.

Wonderful camp ground. The view of the lake is one of the best from this camping location. You can also see the distant wind farm if you look past the dam wall. There are toilets here and the sites are nice and large. The view of the lake is one of the best from this camping location.

Beautiful site, well maintained and good, clean toilet facilities. Looking forward to coming back and camping for the night or a BBQ. So beautiful.

Really nice campsites on the lake side, plenty of nice grass and covered by the pines. The actual tent sites are very hard to get a tent peg into so make sure to bring the hammer

Beautiful views of lake Tinaroo. Not crowded generous areas. Road is sealed except for the last very small portion. You can take a caravan in without a problem

Wonderful place for camping overlooking Lake Tinaroo, just note there isn't any camp kitchen or showers. There are toilets and picnic tables. If you want to escape the city heat this is a perfect place to recharge.

We weren´t sure where to spend the weekend, but Petere at Cairns Discount Tours sent us to the Platypus Campground. Lovely lovely area. Reminded us a lot of scandinavia. Very windy, so be sure to bring warm clothes. Will be back!

Great spot to relax and excellent facilities

Gorgeous but PAID camping, you must go to the QLD GOV website and pre book or no hope to get a spot. Same for most of the campsites around the area.

Favourite campground so far of all the Tinaroo spots. Platypus has clean toilets and a shower cubicle (BYO shower). Plenty of grassy spots to throw a picnic blanket

A beautiful place to recharge your batteries. Plenty of room, well maintaind grounds and facilities. Good size blocks for all camping enthusiasts.
