My favorite sushi restaurant! I have eaten sushi in many countries and Shige is in a different class, the quality of food matches even the best London restaurants, and the fact it is a small family run business gives a more personal experience.

Perth is very lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber and it was a refreshing change to some of the other lower quality places I have tried in Perth.

The standout dishes for me are the sashimi platter which is amazingly fresh local produce hand selected by the chef (the squid and tuna are to die for) and the pork tonkatsu is absolutely delicious. This food goes amazingly well with a nice plum wine.

This place is my favorite restaurant and the family are very warm and welcoming every time we go. Highly recommended!!

A small place yet so lovely.
Very good ambience for family dinner or lunch, the sashimi plate is one of the best, very fresh and delicious.
I had the beef teriyaki which taste very good and my bf got a seafood platter, i forgot the name but surely it’s really delicious.
Very recommended for you who wants to eat Japanese food in town 😋

I’m a Japanese from Singapore. At first I was surprised that there was only 2 people maintaining this restaurant. But the food came really quick and it was sooo delicious. The salad was fresh and luscious‼ The chef cooks efficiently without unnecessary steps. The store was very clean and the bathroom floors were shiny. The udon noodles are chewy and authentic. Great work! ! The real Japan is here.

Fish wings and sashimi were as good as ever. The eel sushi was so good had to order an extra round 😋

We randomly came across this restaurant, and we were not mistaken, everything is very fresh and tasty, real Japanese cuisine. The service is beyond praise, I recommend it 👍

Shige Restaurant is beautiful. Small joint run by a Japanese family with attentive service and charming chef. Chef Shige's sushi and sashimi platters is the holy grail, made by great skill honoring the ways of how it is done back in Japan. The carefully selected fish by itself or with the sushi rice results in the delicious dispersion of the combined flavours in the mouth. The menu is authentically varied and is built upon for a sharing experience or even for single diners. The selection of Agedashi, Chawanmushi and Seaweed Salad as a starter before moving onto the Sushi or Sashimi Platter along with the Tonkatsu Cutlet is a good guide of mine but Chef Shige and family are always there for the better recommendation that fits your appetite on the night. A purely authentic Japanese experience unlike any others in Perth.

We had some of the best food i have ever had at the Shigi... service outstanding and not one thing to say that would touch the 5 stars im giving... can only recommend 😀

My husband and I came to this restaurant tonight as it was located near our hotel. We are from Melbourne and are used to going to Japanese restaurants. The food was wonderful, especially the fish dish. The place is very clean, the lady was very courteous and lovely. The same goes for the chef, he came to our table and enquire as whether we had enjoyed our food. You can see they care about their clients. I would highly recommend this place, they deserve to be recommended.

Always enjoyed Shige. Remembered my many lunches when they were in South Perth. Happy that they are back at Plain St.

Price is little bit expensive but fresh and delicious food provided here😋

One of the best little Japanese restaurants in Perth! Food was absolutely superb! The Chef & staff very polite & helpful, even on a very busy Saturday night when we ordered takeaway dinner! We’ll be coming back again soon! ❤ Too hungry to take photos 😉

A hidden gem. A very cosy ambiance and great food.

I and my wife went to try the combination sushi and ordered udon as well. The sushi roll and nigiri are so fresh. The moment we eat the nigiri, I said to my wife this is like japan.
We have been to many Japanese restaurants here in perth but shige is probably the most authentic Japanese food we have come across. Thank you for your service. W will definitely come again. 🙏

This little restaurant was a treat to visit! The family was warm and friendly and were more than happy to have a chat.

The food was delicious, and I have to disagree with the previous reviews about the rice and sashimi.

The sushi rice was DELICIOUS and the raw fish was so fresh and tender! Even though the fish was cut thicker than I have had in the past it was more authentic and fresher than any I’ve ever eaten. And locally caught seafood was a treat instead of most places who import their fish.

I am from the Gold Coast and may not have a chance to visit again but I will always remember the delicious food and the friendly staff/family! Thank you x

Amazing Japanese food. On my latest visit some friends and I shared some amazingly perfect squid, gyoza, eel rolls, seaweed salad, teriyaki chicken, tempura prawns and yakitori.

Such a terrific meal! We had sashimi to share, followed by tempura udon and the hotpot udon with mixed fillings.
The sashimi was beautifully fresh and the different varieties wonderfully balanced, including a peppery shiso leaf with the wasabi.
The udon was just right, the texture of the noodles had that perfect al dente bite, and the stock was umami-rich and flavoursome. The prawns were that fresh prime grade prawn, with a firm rich prawn-ness that you never find with mass frozen prawns.
Our servers were very knowledgeable, and managing to be friendly and efficient on a busy Friday evening during the Fringe Festival. It was one of those great meals that you finish, feeling that all is well with the world when you can have good food beautifully prepared. Thank you for a wonderful meal that exceeded our expectations. Will definitely return.
