The staff were very friendly & helpful had a bit of a joke with them. If you do the right thing & don’t have restricted foods there are no issues🤗

Yeah it's bureaucratic and fining people whether they're declaring things or not is terrible policy. Here are some photos of the signs in the quarantine bin area a few kilometres to the east, showing what's allowed. Specifically it seems most vegetables (roughly: seeds on the outside) are OK, despite the signs on the highway that say all fruits and vegetables must be binned.

Staff on site are polite in how they go about their duties.
October 2022 came through fruitfly road block we jeld out two bananas for the inspector before he stsrted to talk, we jave traveled this road for years amd was was yhe norm.
Sometime when in lock down with Covid the fruitfly rules changed however on another recent trip l really took note of the signage it is disappointing how the messahe is conveyed.
Those two bananas were assessed by the head office in Adelaide and sent me a fine of $400.00 dollars no consideration was hiven to anyother factors full fine for store brought coles or Woolworths fruit who move fruit & veg from state to state all day every day, anyway l have always respected these inspectors working on site.
Came throigh May 2023 now they take fruit handed over at fruitfly road block without any recourse to you it's quite clear the head office is full of intellectual dim witts who are focused on legally robbing us the public very disappointed

Fined $737 because I asked a question.
Rude not helpful, only interested in raising money.
Shameful way to treat people with disabilities.
There are no signs saying what you can or can’t bring in on the Sturt Hwy and no internet access and no bins anywhere to be found when I went through. Even if I know what was or not allowed in. By what I was told tinned tomatoes are not allowed. These people will not help you if you ask what is allowed.

For any other travelers going to Adelaide on the Sturt Hwy through Yamba put any fruit in the bin, if you forget something or drive past the bin I wouldn't recommend surrendering it as you'll only get fined regardless. They don't care where the fruit came from, so don't buy local either.

What a joke this place must have the most bored officers. Came through 2am Christmas Eve, surrendered 1 apple, 2 plums my kids had as a snack and the officer then went on to search the entire car even asking what was in the wrapped Christmas presents. I thought he was going to open every one just for the fun of it. After about 20mins he then took details for a fine for $407 for the fruit. This would have to be the most expensive fruit around.

Whatever politician came up with this policy should be sacked. I can understand keeping fruit fly out of SA but this policy only encourages hiding the fruit rather than voluntary surrendering it if you miss the bin provided.

Welcome to South Australia...NOT.
What a horrible life these inspectors must have.
If you do not like your job, leave it and do the public a favor.
I found them to be unprofessional, low energy, unmotivated, vindictive and petty.
I am glad I came through at 2 AM, the only car, as I can imagine the que of vehicles on the Victorian side as this mob carry on during business hours.

Welcome to SA, here's your $407 fine!
Even bought within fruit-fly restricted area and the revenue raisers wouldn't budge.
