Store 54 Cafe and Food Market

Stoped in here by chance over the Easter long weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the range of gluten free cakes available! I highly recommend the strawberry tart!

Sceptical on arrival, however great iced latte, good chips and gravy. Good prices.
Much better than the cafe up the road.

Lunch….I had Veg out, it was amazing Avocado, mushrooms and baby blistered tomatoes on thick bread…so yummy.
Hamburger was had by another, although small in relation to the price, it was said to be delicious. Other person had chips and gravy, chips were golden and so tasty, with just the right amount of gravy poured over the top!!
Did take a photo of Veg Out and Hamburger, forgot the chips and gravy!!
Do yourself a favour when passing through Melrose and stop for a bite to eat….

We drove from Riverton to Melrose but nothing was open until Store 54 Cafe, Melrose which remarkably was open.
“Remarkably” because experience has dictated that SA is never keen to be open to serve tourists on Sundays, public holidays or any day after 1:30pm ...
1) “Your sign (or Google) says that you are open until 2:00”
“Yes but kitchen closes at 1:30 ‘cause they have to clean up!”
2) “Your sign (or Google) says that you are open until 2:00”
“Sorry, it’s a minute past two!”
Store 54 Cafe was not only open on Boxing Day/Sunday but they served healthy meals accompanied by exceptional hospitality.

The food, coffee, decor are beautiful. As are the staff.
Its also a Friendly Grocer and Petrol station.

Had the Remarkable Classic breakfast and it didn’t disappoint on quantity, quality and ensemble. Also its grocery store is well stocked. Even managed a compression bandage for a complaining knee due to riding up the Mawson Trail.

4 friends arrived in Melrose.
Melrose pub closed.
Toddled down to Cafe 54.
Sat at one of the long tables on the left side of the room and ordered lunch.
Now I am a big soup cook and so I have to say that the Pumpkin soup served up was so so so beautiful.
Amazingly scrummy and had a trickle of chilli oil on the top.
Top marks to the chef.

Delicious coffee and lovely staff

This cafe and food market and petrol station in main street of Melrose is popular with travelers and locals too. I frequently stop here for a refreshments when travelling south from Wilmington. The service is good and plenty of seating and tables with a great view of Mount Remarkable. So named because it looks the same from wherever you see it from..It is wheelchair accessible both parking and entrance..

A country servo by night, a delicious popping treat by dawn.
This servo is visited by many, not just for the need of petrol, but also for a proper delight.
It is THE Essential spot in town for a breakfast-lunch.
I was impressed by all of the staff for their friendly mannerism, prompt service and most importantly the goodies I ordered.
A MUST have at this Café/Store is a Big Brekky, which was recommended by a local to me, and may I say IT was Unbeatable.
Filled with poached eggs, crunchy toast, sautéed mushrooms, avocado and crispy bacon… It will not disappoint
I’ve also heard that the Pancakes, Coffee, Chicken Burgers and the Hotdogs with the lot are also winners

Great service here. The servo was closing up but turned the pump back on so we could fill up petrol. The lovely lady serving us also gave us a free loaf of bread!

Very good food, friendly service, wonderful atmosphere and a good range of grocery items. Bought a jar of red gum smoked salt which I have never seen before and I love it. What a find. A must stop in Melrose if you're looking for a place to eat.

Lovely staff. Fuel pricing reasonable. Groceries were reasonably priced and a good assortment of products including good fruit.

Just had breakfast and it was fabulous! On par or better then cafe's in big city.
