Just stunning. The Alligator Gorge short loop hike is worth doing. It is 9km.

Take water and wear good hiking gear as the steps are steep and it is very rocky. The views once inside Alligator Gorge and The Narrows make this all worth it.

We did the Mambray Creek 7km return walk, due to time, but really enjoyed it. Lots of different trees and it was an easy walk. Saw an echidna too. Want to go back to explore more.

Such a great campground, hot showers & toilets very clean. Stayed 2 nights could have stayed another night due to the walks.
Hidden Gorge what a hike 18 km but well worth it. The bird life is spectacular & of course you get the kangaroos

Really great hike!!
Network is really poor so if you are camping or going in your car make sure to book your tickets online from parks SA before going. 👍👍

Did the Hidden Gorge loop (18km) anti-clockwise from the day visitor carpark in late March. Facilities incl. toilets & picnic benches near carpark. Beautiful varying terrain incl. the odd scramble. Creek was dry at this time of the year.

Really great hike! We knocked it out in about 3 hours, not messing around. Went up the South trail (definitely the nicer of the 2) then came down the North trail.
Well sign posted and maintained

This is our first hike of two hikes for our 3 nights stay at the Melrose Caravan Park. The track is right in front of the cp!! . Lots of walks here btw. We had to walk through lots of screes to reach the Mt Remarkable. Beautiful walk indeed! The remains of the plane that crashed here in 1980. The 1200 km Heysen Trail passes through here and many parts of the Flinders Ranges! We have seen groups completing it over 6 years - ahh! There is a certificate of acknowledgement at the completion!!

The campground at Mambray Creek is being constantly upgraded and improved by the National Parks staff.
In peak periods, the campgrounds are monitored by a volunteer camp-host.
We stayed over the Easter weekend and on the Saturday afternoon, the staff organised an Easter basket making activity for the children.
All in all, a great time can be had by everyone, whether you are an avid bush Walker, or just want to kick back and put your feet up.
Facilities include solar hot water showers and toilet blocks, barbeque areas, open fire pits for cooking and comfort.
The walking trails are well marked and monitored. There are geocache locations throughout the site, but digital network connection is very sparse. Best to head back to the highway to get phone coverage.
As usual, if you're not connected to Telstra, then you can forget about coverage, till you get to Pt Augusta or Pt Pirie.

Great little pocket of wilderness. Alligator Gorge was a great little pocket. Too hot on day I visited to safely go on longer walk. Saw some wildlife, but careful with the roos driving up.

Great national park just 3 hours away from Adelaide CBD, if you like to have a taste from the Flinders and the great Australian outback this is a place to go. Plenty of camping space, bathroom, showers to enjoy and the cherry on the cake the many walks that can be done from here. A must!

Walking in the pine trees is quiet and calming, and you can find kangaroos passing by. On the hillside heading to Sugar Gum Lookout, there are a lot of gravel, you need good shoes.

Did the alligator gorge walk. Started by going up through the narrows, then the terraces. Great walk up. Walk back is a bit less interesting but is an easy walk down.

Walked through the Alligator Gorge in an early morning hike (temperatures in the area were forecast to be in the low 40s Celsius later). It was lovely and we had the place to ourselves

Great spot, not a huge drive ane in my option a more beautiful place the the flinders. In the same area is one of the best look outs I've seen and you won't need to walk to see it can drive right to it, Hancock Lookout!
