3 Idiots is hands down the best Indian food in Richmond. The owners are so lovely and the food is AMAZING! Every dish I have tried has been delightful. Favourite dishes are the papadams (delicious sauces), the chicken murgh tikka and the xacuti beef, but all the curries are delicious. I love you 3 Idiots!!!

For me it is good. Can't really comment on how the taste for Indian food is because it is the 1st time I have tried here in Melbourne.
Calamari is delicious. It's tender and soft, not those like chewy calamari.
One more thing is that the brownie is really good too.

Not many Indian restaurants here in Melbourne have been able to retain true Indian essence with fusion Indian food. This has to be one of those few! A small but absolutely warm and welcoming place! Great hosts and hospitality. Loved the cocktails and the creativity around it! The starters were really nice. A special mention to the special 3 idiots cheese stuffed beetroot kulcha! Loved it! As suggested it can be had as a separate dish in itself! The veg main course was little bland for my taste palette. Did not taste non-veg main course but I was told it tasted very good! We tasted most of the desserts, they were subtle and yum! Finally tried filter coffee in Melbourne! Authentic taste!

The food was amazing. We ordered a few entrees as recommended by the staff. The pani puri and kheema cigars were delicious. We also had the prawns which were cooked to perfection with a hint of spice.

For mains we ordered butter chicken, lamb shank and palak paneer. All dishes were different, tasty and authentic. The meat just fell off the bone from the lamb shank. The naans (butter, garlic and cheese) were a good thickness and fresh.

We had to try the recommended dessert which was the 3 idiots sizzling brownie. There were quite a few other desserts on the menu I wanted to try. Will have to save it for next time.

Holy cow. Great food, top notch. Went in for an early Valentines dinner without a reservation and were kindly admitted by the excellent Ms. Satt- as long as we vacated within two hours! What followed was a beautiful feast, perfectly presented with a flavour profile that had us in raptures. Satt was the best server I’ve ever had in Australia- attentive, with excellent recommendations for dishes, quietly pouring the rest of my beer for me and removing the bottle, and with great pride in her restaurant and food. Highly highly recommend and can’t wait to try everything on the menu and bring friends. This is sophisticated Indian food, beautifully presented and created by people who have a reverence for good eating. You won’t regret it, go go go!

We ordered two apps, two mains, two breads, several beers.

Wow! What a taste sensation!!! This is Indian food like we've ever experienced before! The flavours are delicate yet bold. Each dish has a great balance - we had the Green Croquettes which had a delicate beetroot mousse accompanying it, which added a light sweetness to the powerful green spices in the croquettes. The samosa came smothered in a delicious curry-like gravy with chickpeas in it, which added to the firm texture of the samosas. The butter chicken was something else! So sweet and light. BUT ... make sure you leave room for the dessert - we had the pannacotta which has little beads of juicy delights that pop in your mouth and we finished off with the sizzling brownie - if you're a chocoholic, you can't miss this! The restaurant was bustling, but the staff managed to keep on top of it all really well. If anything, it was almost a little too quick and would have been nice to space out the courses a bit to sit and just enjoy the aromas. The only thing missing was a nice aromatic alcohol free wine (but they did have other nice AF options). We'll be back!!!

Wrote the below review a month ago, and today we drove back down again for another feed. Chose the 'Feed Me Idiots' chef's choice menu this time. Great value. We were stuffed.
Staff just as friendly and obliging and the quality of the food was outstanding.
This time I remembered to take some photos!

...

Best Indian I've had in years. Friendly and attentive staff and everything was made with care and skill. Even the small dishes like the pappadums, the chutney and the raita, which other restaurants often can't be bothered to exert themselves over, were a cut above.
They've got a great mix of curry house staples, and also some more unusual/modern takes which I loved seeing.
Completely forgot to take photos of anything until desert came out. Too busy digging in.
My husband and I live 2 hours away, but we're already talking about making the trip down to eat here again.

Fresh flavours, it is soo good to read a menu and then taste the food, then to be blown away by the flavours it’s a wonderful thing to do. The flavours were natural tasting and you can tell they were made using fresh ingredients not out of a packet. Something great about people who are passionate about food. Give it a try it won’t disappoint.

Have been here a number of times now and the food have always been so exceptional and consistently good! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Melbourne. Brought a friend who didn’t even like Indian food and she ended up loving it! TFC, butter chicken, palak paneer & cheesy garlic naan are my recommendation of MUST-TRY. Oh, and of course the masala chai!
Highly recommend this place :)

Great food and hospitality. We tried the fried chicken ribs, paneer tikka and prawns for entrée. All the entrées were amazing. The paneer tikka presentation was eye catching. For main course we ordered the Sindhi mutton, chef recommended butter chicken and black daal. Mutton was very succulent and full of flavour and butter chicken was amazing with just the right smokiness. Daal was nice too. The best course was desserts. We got the home made cassata, kharwas panacotta and vegan gajar halwa. Cassata was to die for followed by panacotta (loved the mango pearls). Gajar halwa was a nice take for vegan guests. In all great modern take on Indian cuisine with presentation and combinations of dips and smoke but being very authentic with flavours. It’s a must visit.
