Totally authentic and absolutely delicious - they have a speciality dish (cơm tấm - photo below) which they can whip up very quickly, or other quite delicious items on the menu. Great Vietnamese coffee too. Highly recommend this place. Arrive early (or late) though - it’s very popular & there is often a line up during peak lunch/dinner hours. It is open from 9 am to 7 pm every day except Sunday when it closes at 5 pm.

4.4/5 One of the best broken rice I ever had. The pork chop was smokey and taste perfect. The beansprout with chilli and pickle was a perfect kick to the dish.
However, the meat portion was too small for $17.
Get real busy so come early to avoid lines. Also, the seatings can be quite cramp and you might have to share table but promise it’s worth it :)

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember!
Authentic Vietnamese broken rice is really the best in Melbourne.

Although their portions were bigger in the past, it is still amazing and is very filling. Service is rather quick however you may have to wait in line during the busy weekends.

Other than the broken rice, I highly recommend you try their Hu Tieu which is Vietnamese Clear noodle soup. I have seen other people try their Vermicelli noodle salads too!

It is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants when you are craving for chargrilled pork broken rice in Melbourne. Their broken rice is really authentic and close to what is served in Vietnam. Though, the rice is cooked inconsistently, sometimes it is a bit wet, which does not suit this type of dish. I haven't tried other dishes much but nothing outstanding like their broken rice.

During busy hours, there will be a long queue in the front of the restaurant. Service is okay. Love the vibe, really similar to some restaurants in Vietnam.

Update 13/02/24:
Food price has increased slightly, but my rating remains the same. Arguably the best Viet restaurant in Footscray

We came in just after lunch rush time because we saw the restaurant had a long queue for take away, so we thought they must be serving decent meal. Not to our surprise, our expectation has been exceeded. I really enjoyed the pho and grilled pork on vermicelli. The portion is decent and the taste is heavenly.

The serving time is also pretty quick eventhough the restaurant was constantly full during our visit.

Definitely come back to this store again.

TTL can get really really busy so best come during off peak hours. Don't let the basic tableware fool you. This is easily the best Com Tam (Broken Rice with the lot)in the city!

No frills , small restaurant. Queued for about 10 mins during Sunday lunch. The food / atmosphere takes you back to Vietnam especially with the AC going at the back.
You must get the grilled pork chop which is cooked over flames, we got it with vermicelli (v fresh and delicious, big portion). The meat/seafood on rice and egg noodles was also yum
Total of $30 for 2 people

Edit - update went back and tried the crab noodle. Was good to try but probably will stick to the favourite of pork chop and noodle salad.

To be honest.. So far, this is the best Vietnamese broken rice and raw beef pho!! Amazing! The staffs are friendly but they don't speak good English. However, you'll enjoy the food guys!

10/10 Best grilled pork broken rice I’ve ever had! Unpretentious Vietnamese restaurant and we tried the broken rice, pho, and bun Bo hue. All were great but the signature broken rice was the standout. Pork was amazingly tasty and you can smell the charcoal grill from a mile away.

Best broken rice in Melbourne. Indicative of the customers being predominantly local Vietnamese families. The grilled pork is cooked well, charred on the sides, gives it a good smokey flavour. Make sure to line up in the right queue (one for takeaway one for dine in). Eftpos available which is a nice plus

Would have to be one of the best Vietnamese Restaurants in Melbourne! Especially like the Bhan Tam Bi as its rarely available in other restaurants. The Bun & Pho dishes are also fabulous. Always a busy place with many customers but they close at 5pm Sundays so make sure your early on that day. Have been here many times now - can be a bit tight for space but it's because of the popularity.

Great charcoal grilled pork chop. You can smell the nice BBQ smell when you're near the front door. I recommend the pork chop broken rice or the vermicelli , both very nice.

Prices are quite reasonable, seating a bit cosy.

Place is usually quite packed on weekends but people don't hang around too long so the wait shouldn't be too long.

Honestly this place is so underrated and I’m not sure why it only has hundreds of reviews, considering the amount of time I always have to line up for the seats! I’ve tried a couple of things on the menu: Bun Rieu, the Seafood noodles, and the Special noodles. I could tell that the broth were freshly made and there’s no MSG or insane amount of salt like some in CBD area. And they’re so generous with the bean sprouts and toppings, which makes the broth even better. The best thing is about the coffee, omg heavenly. I’d just go there for their coffee really! The food is honestly 10/10.

Highlights are the dry rice noodles with pork and prawns, vermicelli with grilled pork and bun Bo hue. Also tried the crab noodles which is good for $16. Real crab and thick rich sauce but not spicy. Coffees are strong and sweet. Coconut drink ice is made from coconut water. Grilled pork banh mi is quite dry but tasty the next day. Pho was ok, a little sweet.

Best quick breakfast, pork on broken rice with egg 👌
Lots of great items on the menu, very good food.

Edit: Had the combination pork as a takeaway yesterday. Equally as good as having in store! Love this place.

June 2021:
Another unassuming Vietnamese restaurant within the Footscray Central Business District that received good feedback in Google reviews. So we decided to give it a try. Parking can be a challenge during busy weekends. The place inside is pleasant and clean. I like the old fashion thermos with complimentary hot tea which is great on cold days. Good selection in their menu. See our orders in photos below. Delicious! 5 stars from me.
December 2021:
2nd visit - after the series of lockdown, we are back to try different food for breakfast- see last 2 photos

I love the pork chop rice here. I've tried many places, but none are better than this. My friend says their pork chop rice tastes the closest to the one in Vietnam.
