Mallacoota Hireboats

Hiring a boat is the best way to explore Mallacoota lakes (lagoons) with over 300km of coastline. On our trips we saw: variety of water birds (sea eagles, pelicans and swans galore etc), goannas, fish. Even an upside down seal whose flipper we mistook for dolphin’s dorsal.

David who runs this place is amazing: welcoming, knowledgeable of the area and with an eye on customer’s interests. When we wanted to hire a boat initially he dissuaded us (the wind was cold and would become unpleasant in the open) despite the fact he could have made an extra buck.

During our week’s visit we hired the boat twice.

We had great fun going for a half day adventure on one of the boats. Well maintained, canopy for shade, and fishing equipment for hire also. We were lucky with the weather and the staff explained everything we needed about the boat and the lake.

We had the best weekend on the lake the house boats are so well equipped it is just magic cursing around even when the weather is not the best, very cosy warm and so stable 😊😊

This place made our holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Wr hired kayaks for 4 hours and saw so many different fish species. Amazingly beautiful and I would recommend to anyone.

Have to call the shop owner to summon him, lives 5 mins away.

After our kayaking session, he just dipped, called him again and he said he won’t be back for 30 mins.

The amount of trust he places in complete strangers with his money and property is astonishing.

Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Happy to help and provide advice. Very helpful tips for beginners in what can be difficult water's to navigate. Pointed me in the direction of a few fishing holes. Came home with a good feed of flatty and bream and threw a lot more fish back.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We booked the green 'fast' boat. It was a great boat, well maintained and performed perfectly. Good maps, depth sounder and recommendations on best places to go - which were all easy to get to given the speed of the boat. We didn't go fishing but the boat is well set up for that. Clean with plenty of space to store our picnic bags. Highly recommend.

Great little boats. Perfect day going up to a jetty on captain Creek that has a new gas BBQ and camping tables. Smaller vessels have good cover from rain and wind.

One of the best days ever, as my kids said. David was extremely helpful and encouraging. A super spot to invest money in the local economy. Spectacularly beautiful. Also gave us city slickers an appreciation of the horrors that locals have lived through with recent bushfires.

Hired a boat for 4 hours. Bowen was super helpful setting us up with fishing gear and giving tips for the best places to fish - even gutted and filleted ourncatches for us at the end of the day! May have been the slowest boat I have ever been on so may have taken longer to get places, but the helpful Bowen and Dave were wonderful. Will certainly hire from them again!

We went there and phoned the guy as the note on the door said. He arrived like 10 min later, got a boat and were even able to extend, as we had a great time on the lake. Thumbs up! :)

I hired a canoe for an hour. The staff were really helpful and generous with their time explaining how to use the equipment, the prices were very affordable, and the view was stunning. Fully recommended.

the old man gave us recommendations for where to go next ( secret beach was very good) & took some nice pictures of us in the kayaks 👍
