Rob’s Fish ‘n Chips Wonthaggi used to have the best Fish ‘n Chips on the Bass Coast…. Not anymore! Dalyston General stores seafood was incredible, extremely fresh and generously sized fish, potato cakes fluffy… great prices, Siva and staff are always smiling; all in all EXCELLENT. Support your local store owners folks, we’ll definitely be back.

Under new management. Fish and chips are excellent. Not greasy. Nice and crisp and not overcooked. Store is very clean. Very friendly and polite service.

3rd time I've stopped in on my way pass and hasn't failed me yet there fish is on 👌🏽 light crispy batter fish not over cooked I've been wanting to try their burgers but can't get over their fish absolutely delicious

Dalyston is on the South Gippsland Highway between Kilcunda and Wonthaggi. There is a pub and a General Store and a bit more, but its small. If you want to know why Hamburgers ever became a thing, how Bunnings-like franchises such as Maccas and Hungry Jacks were spawned, you need to go back to the source. Somehow, at Dalyston General Store they have captured a folk memory and passed it down from owner to new owner that faithfully recalls this early 20th century culinary event. Authentic, not falling apart, not ending in molten orange cheese indistinghishable from the wrapping you accidentally ate,, a true working man's or working woman's lunch, substantial, balanced, you can taste the beef, the right amount of beetroot, no pineapple (well done there) and firm buns. I will keep coming back to marvel and enjoy the wait while each one is turned out from scratch to order. Time to catch up with myself, time to experience uncoiffed 1950s rural roadstop authenticity, time to browse the headlines of the The Sentinel Times while successfully avoiding the gravitational pull of my phone. Five stars for their "burger with the lot".

A top local one-stop-shop with fish and chips. I recommend the south melbourne market dim sims and fried garlic ball (essentially a miniature chicken kiev)

I just had the best chicken schnitzel burger with the lot hold mayo but gravy instead and it was delicious. Massive but yummy. We have a hidden gem in Gippsland - Dalyston General Store makes awesome burgers.

We just had two hamburgers with the lot from this little general store on the road between Kilcunda and Wonthaggi - they were beautiful and fresh and great value for money - making it a worthwhile local convenience shop and stop!

Forget any take out in wonthaggi it’s all rubbish head into the Dalystin store some of the best chips and chicken salt around and good burgers, hard to find any decent take out in the area but always good solid lunch from here!

Best fish in all of Victoria!!! I’ve told all my mates and we all make a detour after going surfing as a reward to ourselves. It is consistently the best fish!! The reason it’s fresh from the local fishos it’s up to 10 and 12mm thick and the batter is golden crispy. Yum Yum!!!

We recently moved to Daly and I grabbed some hot chips for my partner from here, they were absolutely delicious! Staff are also very friendly 👍

Best fishnchips, we been Phillip island, and on way back just happened to come across this one, even went back for seconds next day but sadly cooking had finished for the first part of day.

Have been here several times now for fish and chips and burgers... My only wish is that I'd found this place sooner. This is hands down the best fish and chips you'll find on the bass coast. You will not be disappointed.

Fresh fish, crispy batter, amazing chips. Oh and the burgers were a real treat. Proper old school chippy burgers with juicy patty's that leave you well satisfied.

I'll be back for many more years to come, keep up the great work folks!

Recently visited my mum in Daylston and she recommended take away from here. Was so yum we got lunch and dinner, plus fresh bakery bread and rolls in the morning. Everyone was so lovely and friendly. Highly recommended :)

Was all fantastic. The fish was fresh and of a generous size the potato cakes were home made and all cooked in a thin crispy batter. The burger was cooked perfectly and had fresh salad including beetroot. And to top it all off the service was great, being friendly and professional with good covid practices in place. Only thing that could have made it even better is toasting the burger roll. Highly recommend.

I love this place. I have been a local for 18 months and they are so accomodating. Help with my parcels, variety of great food, locals themselves and have everything you need for both locals or those passing through. I’m a big believer of supporting local and family business!!!

The fish and chips I had are the best and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Service is great and always efficient, happy and polite.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped in to the Dalyston General store to buy a drink recently. I hadn't been back since I had the worst fish and chips ever there. Now there are new owners who are super friendly and the place has been renovated. I am staying locally during the summer holidays and have enjoyed fish and chips twice so far and they were delicious.
