Charnwood-Dunlop School

I’ve had one child go through from 3 Yr Preschool to Yr 6 who is now in Yr 7, and three other children on that same journey. As life goes, there have been all sorts of things come up over the years, but I have found that the school has always responded well and taken my concerns seriously. 3/4 of my kids have dyslexia and the school has been helpful in supporting my children and boosting their self esteem, which has been super important to me because they may never be super academic, but they will still have the confidence to work out what they are actually good at.
Yeah, so I’m still happy with the choice we made, all those years ago, to have our kids attend here, even when it’s been difficult at times.

Excellent school. Kids are happy and respectful of each other. Very engaged school community.

Went to school here as child

So I went to this school when I first came to Australia. I attended the international student program to learn English. Now things may have changed from 2013 but I just feel like I should say this anyway.
There were two classes for ESL students and they were near the front office away from the normal classes which is fine.
Both classes were not allowed to wear school uniform so we stuck out like a sore thumb.
We had to take a seperate bus from the other students which was really bad condition and even my mum remembered the bus driver was smoking.
When we had assembly we would sit far from the other kids and we weren’t allowed to play on the playground because the other kids would push us off.
Because we stuck out so much the kids would ridicule us, push us around and when we would tell the teachers they would do nothing about it. Good think I couldn’t understand most of the rude comments they were saying to us but I don’t need to speak the same language to know they were laughing at me; they were pointing fingers and laughing…

I know kids are cruel but the teachers didn’t protect us or control the kids.
That being said my classroom teacher was such a lovely person all I remember was she was from some islands; she was such a good teacher incredibly patient. Where ever she is I hope she is well.

And if this program still exists I hope it’s improved a lot from when I was there.

bad school i got hit by a little kid on a scooter and teachers sent me to detention for abusing the kid by running him by accident
