Heysen Tunnels

I went through the Heysen Tunnels in 2001. It's located on the M1 South Eastern Freeway (formally Princes Highway).

It beats having to use the old Mount Baker Road due to numerous curves and the infamous Devil's Elbow

Opened in 2000 this is a 500m long twin tube tunnel. It has 3 lanes each way and is on the South Eastern freeway.

It helps reduce the commute time by taking traffic under Eagle on the hill.

The speed limit in the tunnel is lower than the rest of the road. Usually the speed is limited to 90kmph.

Pretty cool

Coming is better than going.

Heysen tunnels are not exactly any tourist attraction, but it might be the only tunnel we are having at south side of Adelaide. This 500meters long tunnel is located on the South eastern free way at mount lofty range. So whenever you are going to the hill range or othet state like Victoria, you have to pass this beautiful tunnel, which really boost the holiday feeling. The tunnel is really beautiful, so clean and tidy.

Great place to walk the dog, would of rated 5/5 stars but the close passing traffic is a little loud.

Functional road tunnels!

It's a highway tunnel, it's not really a tourist attraction.

It's quite clean and well illuminated though.
