Gioia On The River

Wow, we thoroughly loved everything about Gioia. Great location on the water sitting outside. The service was friendly and extremely attentive. The aroma of meals and food was absolutely delicious (unfortunately being dim lighting pics didn't do it justice). We can highly recommend checking this place out 🍷🍝

My husband and I had lunch here today for the first time and were very impressed. The restaurant and outdoor area is simple and elegant and has a warm, friendly, unpretentious feel. Service was perfect, giving us time to enjoy our meal in a relaxed way but staff were always attentive, professional and made us feel very welcome. The food was amazing, with perfect portion sizes that meant we could enjoy 2 courses and share a dessert. We were celebrating so weren't conscious of what we paid, but when we paid our bill we felt we had certainly had value for money. We will definitely return and if we have our chadults with us will probably take advantage of the special 2 course lunch menu on offer :)

Our wedding anniversary dinner here was amazing! The view was great, and the food was just like in Italy – so good! I asked the chef to surprise us, and they really did – every dish was awesome. We even ordered more because it was that tasty. Eating outside here is like being in a romance movie. Big thanks to the chef and the wait staff for making our night so special. Loved it!

What a lovely place!
Had a dinner here on a Friday night and was worried it may be busy or noisy, but to my surprise it was very chill with only a few guests. Great view and atmosphere, very good food and a great attentive service crew.

Had Christmas Lunch here with friends for the second time. Food & Atmosphere was fantastic however the service was not the same as last year.

My lovely partner surprised me for dinner on our 9 year anniversary 💕 everything was amazing. The food, the drinks, the service and the vibe. We had a waterfront view which was so romantic and I'd definitely come back again and again 💜

I took my management team over from the Eastern States to Gioia for our corporate Xmas dinner. Wow....we all loved the fresh sizeable food portions, great wine selection and attention to detail. But the best thing was the personable service and friendly atmosphere. It is clear the owners and staff love what they are doing and this shows in every aspect of the dining experience. For them to pull up a chair at our table and have a chat is something that has been missing from restaurants for many years. I will be a frequent diner now I have found this hidden gem!!!

This place has a very good menu and outlook.
Pasta is less awash with cream like most Italian is and is delicious with very generous servings.
Sitting outside on the water on a balmy night is pretty hard to beat.

Went there for a small dinner with friends after our wedding. We had the set menu which has a really good range of options. The service is amazing with the staff always close at hand, including the owner which made the experience extra special. The amazing views of the river and the closeby park make it a great spot for a romantic cozy dinner. The pastas were all exceptionally full of flavour including for me the squid ink. Thank you for making our evening special.

Lava choc cake -made in house- not sickly sweet. Great recommendation from the owner.

Our only complaint would be that the dishes served did not come with many greens. My MIL asked that her lamb shanks not be served with mash as per the menu, and asked if a few green beans or extra kale be added in replacement for the mash- “ no- the chef doesnt like to change his dishes”.

Flavours otherwise of all dishes we lovely. Setting was beautiful for an autumn day and we felt like we were somewhere in Europe, but with far less ppl.

All together, would recommend this lovely place for lunch. (One of the few Italian restaurants open for lunch during the week, in and around Perth CBD).

Beautiful seating area outside on the water in East Perth canal. The service was good and the food was even better! The photo of my dish turned out blurry so I was only able to post what I could, but it was tasty trust me!

First time I have been and we arrived just after a down pour of rain! They took us in and then moved us back outside once they had dried up. Atmosphere was lovely! Service was perfect and the cocktails and food was awesome. Really felt like I was eating in Europe :) will be back.

The staff were friendly and passionate about the food giving great recommendations.
We had mostly specials, the scallops were beautiful and plump+juicy, the gnocchi was so delicate, the mushroom dish was nutty and rich, the goat was tender and flavoursome and the skin on red emperor was perfectly tender.
Very high marks and large portion sizes. Fine dining in a nice location.

Excellent service! Excellent food! Excellent atmosphere! Excellent view! Loved it. Had the baby goat which melted off the bone. The chocolate icecream for dessert was perfect. Had no room left for an affogato…

I had such a pleasant dining experience here. All staff are so kind and welcoming. Portion of dishes is generous,and the vibe and view were amazing. 10 out of 10. No wonder they have good reviews.

I loved this Italian restaurant! The location is superb. Right at the river with a nice view and a great vibe. The service was excellent and the food beyond delectable. We had the fish of the day and the ink squid pasta with prawn followed by desert. The espresso was also brilliant. All in all highly highly recommended!
