Bruthen Tearooms

Had some toasted sandwiches, ham and cheese and chicken homemade chutney and stuff. Good place to stop for a break on the drive back to Melbourne. Lots of home made goodies to buy inside too.

Bruthen Tearooms are a lovely stop as you pass through Bruthen. The lady who runs the shop is friendly and makes some of the tastiest toasties going. My Reuben sandwich was packed full of flavour from the homemade sauerkraut and Russian sauce. The owner also makes many award winning jams. We tried a couple on some scones and they were delicious. Do keep in mind that the shop only opens on weekends and that there is no eftpos. It is a very old-school place so expect to wait times to be slow as you enjoy the beautiful building and surrounds.

Beautiful, charming spot. We arrived 10:30 AM on a Saturday just as the scones were coming out of the oven. Served with cream and Tanja's homemade jams -- chef's kiss. We also had the ham and cheese and reuben toasties, and one can tell a lot of thought and care went into preparing them. It's like having lunch at your aunt's place. That said, it's a leisurely meal in Gippsland so set aside an hour or two and please don't expect lightning speed service like you're grabbing coffee on the way to work. Would frequent if I lived closer!!

If you like old-world charm, and Devonshire tea/innovative toasted sandwiches, give them a try. We had scones with locally made jams and jellies, along with a loose leaf French Earl Grey tea, which was subtle and had a hint of t of lavender. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable

Love this place. All the food is delicious. Really tasty jams and chutneys for sale too. The scones with jam and cream are delicious, as is the fruit punch. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in town.

Try the Reuben toasted sandwich and the traditional lemonade. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Wonderful, friendly service. Ammenities are clean. Really cute inside. Loved it

I would detour any roadtrip through Eastern Victoria through Bruthen just to get a taste of their mouthwatering jams, marmalades, chutneys, slaws, soups & sandwiches. Everything has a homemade (with love) taste. Lots of attention to detail and passion goes into the food and the very cute/cozy setting. An absolute gem. 10 out of 5 stars! Can I bathe in their cream???

Stopped here for a bite to eat after a hike. The chicken, cheese, rocket and chutney sandwich was delicious and the scones with home made jams - yum. They have the jams for sale so you can buy your favourites . Definitely worth a visit. Opening hours 1000-1600 Sat and Sun only as per the owner

Stopped for morning tea, and the homemade scones were just coming out of the oven. The scones were served up with three homemade jams.

I am down right shocked that this place doesn't have more reviews. Every part of this experience was delightful. The Rueben sandwich was perfect and I enjoyed the best Devonshire tea of my life. The home made jams here are other worldly with flavours like Plum and Port and Galliano and Kumquat. I haven't tasted anything of this quality outside of my now deceased grandmother's preserves.

Absolute gem of a place - not to be missed! Scones fresh from the oven and beautiful soup and toasted sandwiches. The kinds of country classics you just don't get in Melbourne!

Who doesn't like scones with jam and cream? Nobody that's who.

The scones are top notch and came with a selection of different jams. Couple that with a pot of tea and your in for a damn classy morning tea.

We dropped in on tge way to Mt Hotham and Bright the scones and coffee were great and some our group had sandwiches which looked fabulous 👌
