The Perth Mint, the house of Gold, built during the Gold rush in the 1800's. A beautiful place and a heap of history, and presented by amazing tour guides. All of the staff are really helpful and have a buzz of energy about them. Overall a great experience with some mind blowing facts.

On another note that really suprised me, was the jewellery store inside. I didn't expect to see high end Argyle Diamonds or other notable brands in there. I mean it goes hand in hand with Gold, but it wasn't expected.

Seriously go have a look.

Also Jeff was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and a good cheeky Aussie sense of humour, making the Gold Pour Tour well worth the visit.

Excellent visit to the mint while visiting Perth recently. The guided tour was excellent and very informative about the history of gold mining and minting coins around Perth. The biggest coin was quite something as was being weighed to see how much you are worth if you were made of gold! The gold pouring display was really good and you come away with a printed ‘coin’ from the mint as a souvenir. There was a nice shop on site and you can even trade in any gold you have spare! The mint is situated in the centre of Perth, so really easy to access. If you’re in Perth the mint is well worth a visit.

This place was really interesting. We loved to know about the history of the gold and the miners in Perth. We respect the elders and those who were there before us and work to serve the country and build what we can see now. The tour guide was amazing, very kind and friendly. We also spent a lot of money on the shops there, so many pretty things, difficult to choose just 1.

Amazing experience to know about the history of gold mining in Australia. The best part is the tour guide, I haven’t seen anyone with these kind of presentation skills.

We did the tour, which was great, the tour guide was knowledgeable and the stories and history behind the mint were very interesting! I think the tour took around an hour and you also watch how they melt and pour gold.
Definitely worth going!

Excellent place to visit if you’re in Perth. We loved the guided tour which had a lot of interesting facts and Paul was an engaging Guide with a lot of knowledge. The walking tour was easy and took about 1hour all up which included a seated session about gold pouring and the lovely female guide made a solid gold bar in front of us. She was great and also very entertaining. She e also had a special customised sterling silver coin made as a souvenir (that’s a seperate cost) because we were on our honeymoon. Also The Mint is easy to get to by bus in the CBD. Def recommend.

Entry is free but purchase of bullion grade coins and gold bars require ID registration, so make sure you bring acceptable ID to register. Bullion counter closes 15 minutes before the Mint closes. Jewellery & commemorative coins do not require ID registration to purchase.

Don't visit the Perth Mint unless you've booked the tour, because otherwise you won't get to the good section. Loved the gold pouring demo!

The Perth Mint is a nice place to visit and know about the history of the Western Australian gold industry, see the exquisite jewelry, witness a live gold pouring demonstration, view the one tonne gold coin along with gold nuggets and gold dust etc. Visitors have the opportunity to feel the weight of a 12kg gold (99.99% pure) bar 🙂

This was a nice find. We are visiting from the US and had recently arrived by train from Sydney. One of the other guests on the train suggested we visit the mint and we are glad we did. The staff was amazing...I'm sorry I didn't get the lady's name, but when we stopped by 3 hours early to ask about a local tourist map she offered to move our tour up to the one departing in 15 minutes! We had also asked for some lunch recommendations, specifically brewpubs. She had to think about it a bit (and had other customers) but as we entered later for the tour she handed us two. notes with details on two places she recommended. The tour itself was very interesting. Oscar was our guide and was very knowledgeable, funny at times and seemed to enjoy his work. He definitely kept everyone's interest all the way through. The displays and gold pour were also very interesting; I came away feeling a little bit smarter about the gold rush and historical events in Australia's gold industry. Well done!

Wonderful gatehouse entrance and main building.
Great to walk around and see jewellery, gifts and of course gold bullion for sale!
Highly recommend booking the tour for the Gold pour and seeing the 1000kg gold coin!
Something most will only see once in a life time, so we'll worth it.
Heaps if history to go along the tour.

High recommend for young children to go and learn about the Australian History. The one hour tour is very informative and even has a demonstration on process a gold bar(yes, a real gold bar). You even have a gold coin as souvenir.

Enjoy a $5 discount with coupon from Hello Perth free guide which can be picked up from airport or major hotels.

The guide also provides other coupons which may be useful.

Managed to get on the 9:30am tour by turning up 10 minutes before the tour started. Very informative guide with lots to see & history to soak up. The gold pour was awesome!

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the mint. Our guide was Paul. He gave us all the history of the Gold mines and the mint in Perth and finished by pouring a gold bar. He was knowledgeable and made the tour fun as well.

The place is so cool! If you like learning about gold or just like seeing a abnormal amount of gold, this place is for you. The place sells gold (some of which I bought as a souvenir) and offers tours of the mint. If you chose to take the tour, which you should, it is a very detailed and long tour around the operations of the facility. They show off their solid gold coin that is so heavy it will not be moved until the apocalypse happens or they tear down the building. They also have a scale machine that weighs you and tells you how much you are worth in gold, and they also have an theater type room where you can watch a machinist melt down a gold bar and cast it into a star shape and then melt the star back into liquid for the next show. In all, the place is an amazing facility that is fun for everyone.

Such a great tour! Sarah was really knowledgeable and friendly and gave a great history of the place, then Oliver showed us how he pours a bar of gold. So entertaining, he deserves a bar of gold for his bonus! Highly recommended place to visit.

Very cool! Best experience for us, staff was nice, the one that led us is really funny, lots of rare coins, medals, and you can even see how they make coins behind a window, lots of cool facts, good place for families during school holidays or tourist visiting. Sorry for blurry photos

Excellent 45-min tour, hit way above expectations. See the world' largest gold coin, hear the stories of the world's largest nuggets, test your hand at holding a real gold bar, measure your worth of your body weight in gold, and watch an expert pour actual molten gold to make a gold bar. Fabulous, even the kids liked it.
