Windana Cottages

We a family of 4 stayed here for two nights. We were too late to check in when it was already dark. The owner was so helpful to show us the way. This is a wonderful calm and quiet place. Close proximity to attractions. We did stargazing at night and kids loved it.

What a great little place to stay. There are 2 self contained cottages here with seating and mini gas barbeque for each, the owners are really nice and friendly, they recommended a couple of places to eat and go when we arrived because we had never been to hawker before. The views were really lovely, we could see the sun setting and rising every day, and spent a couple of hours in absolute serenity with drink in hand, watching the milky way with it's sea of stars and all the satellites pass us over us each night. The views were lovely where you could see the Flinders Ranges and Wilpena Pound on the horizon with that real outback feel to it. There was a little hill called Camel Hump nearby, which was a great landmark each evening for returning to the cottage and a real delight to take the short easy walk up to it's lookout for a heightened 360 degree view of the area. With the small town of Hawker only a 3 minute drive from the cottage, this is a great and very convenient place to stay.

I made the mistake of booking a room at the Hawker Hotel and checked out after one night. Fortunately, I found the cottages on AirBNB! Every creature comfort you need and a 20 minutes walk out of town which was relaxing in the morning to stroll for a coffee. Lovely stay and WAY better value for money than most accomodation in the area
