We LOVE staying here! Usually stay 3 nights, and come up with other families and book out all the cabins. It's such a stunning place, and there are walks for all ages & abilities. Each cabin sleeps 6, 5 cabins in all.
Extremely basic. Wood fire and a sink with cold running water, a table and benches, and bunk beds... that's it! So be prepared, this is NOT glamping. Take everything you would if you were tenting in the wilderness. Gas stove, saucepan, frypan, all eating/cooking utensils etc.
Take sheets for the mattresses, if you're fussy like me. If the fire is going, a sleeping bag is fine, I promise you won't be cold. They provide plenty of firewood, which you can replenish from the wood shed.
We boiled the water before drinking it, but it's crystal clear (and icy cold!)
It's your responsibility to clean up the cabin before leaving, as there ain't no room service or daily cleaner here!😝 So leave it as you would like to find it.
Sadly, we didn't get snowed-in this time, but as always we had a wonderful time. Lots of stunning walking tracks, we took board & card games, then endless snacking round the fire, a glass of red & a good book, NO internet/WiFi/phone reception... so it was absolute bliss!!! The kids loved running wild outside, (and the opportunity to go without a shower for a few days 🤭).
It's an amazing place, very special and unspoilt. Such a privilege to be able to stay in the cabins and truly enjoy Nature at it's finest. Just come well-prepared. Enjoy! xo

Simple 4-bed cabins with running water, mattresses, and a fireplace. There is no electricity so it's important to be prepared! Firewood can be found in a nearby hut, but I wouldn't assume it is always available. I loved my stay and reading by lamplight during a windy wet evening before a big hike was worth all the prep.

Enjoyable experience but come prepared to stay. There is no electricity or cell coverage here but has running water and fire place for heating and some fire wood to last a day. Bring you own portable stove, lantern, utensils and very warm clothing for sleeping and wearing them. I went during the last week of December and temperature were around 6 degrees.

A truly great and easily accessible Wilderness Experience. The huts are super clean and cosy and the bunk beds very comfortable. Off grid so no mobile phone service, no power etc. The night time sky was sensational.

Serene and majestic scenery, lots of great walks, long or short in the area. Huts are very well fitted out and comfortable.

Cheap and cheerful near some great summer hikes and winter snow. Warm, good bunks. Rent thru Mt Field visitor centre.
