This is an amazing place to stay. Steve and Trish were so inviting. Steve showed us the farm and let us feed the pigs. We might have seen the platypus, but could not be sure. What a view from the top of the farm. Wow. The black berries were delicious.
Love to go back one day.

We stayed 2 nights and wished we had stayed longer. This is a good accommodation made great by the setting and the care and attention Trish and Steve give to their guests ( and the wonderful meals). If you want some peace and relaxation but access to Mount Field, this is a great and good value base. If you’re lucky you might even see their resident platypus (I did).

We stayed at Hamlet Downs for 3 nights and it was so delightful! Our room was perfect, with a bathroom, kitchen and sunroom attached. The food was amazing and we loved that we could explore around the property. Would highly recommend !

We shared a delightful few days with Trish and Steve. The surroundings are just beautiful. Trish is a magnificent cook and the meals were delicious. Steve showed us around and we met Percy platypus, which was an added bonus. Highly recommend Hamlet Downs.

We stayed at Hamlet Downs as accommodation at Maydena was booked out for the Enduro Jam bike fest. Even though it was 20 mins away from the bike park, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we were treated to their King Suite with a beautiful view of the well manicured garden, not to mention Trish’s delicious cooking. Trish was very accommodating of our dietary requests, and although her menu caters for omnivorous, she’s secretly an excellent vegetarian and vegan cook as well ! Both Steve and Trish are excellent hosts and we would not hesitate coming back again..

Such a bespoke country experience! Trish and Steve master country hospitality with making their home feel like your own , from the warmest of greetings and farm tours to Trish’s incredible feasts. The rooms are beautifully decorated and private. So pleased we took the time to visit their special part of the world , definitely worth the visit

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Hamlet Downs for four nights in August 2021.

I have to say that it was the most treasured time we had from a three week holiday in Tasmania. Trish and Steve are superb hosts with such fine attention to detail, with Trish being a five star cook. We dined with her cooking every night and breakfast too and just couldn’t get enough of the delicious meals. Do yourselves a favour and eat the food. Sublime.

The place is stunning and the property is so beautiful packed with animals, adventures to have, even a platypus that lives in the lake. And I must mention Sunny the family dog. What a trooper he was and just completed our break at their Airbnb because we missed our own dogs so much.

Such a special Idaho nestled in one of the most beautiful spots in Tasmania. We cannot wait to return.

To sum up our experience at Hamlet Downs in six words: enchanting, delicious, joyous, tranquil, romantic, unforgettable. 😍

Highly recommend. 👍

Recently had the privilege of staying at Hamlet Downs, lovely part of Tasmania. Steve and Trish were amazing hosts.
Can't wait to go back. In fact it's worth it just for Trish's cooking.
Thanks for the memories.

Lovely place, quiet and surrounded by much more wildlife than expected. Definitely book in for some meals provided by Trish and Steve, the leek and potato soup was the best I'd ever tasted! Helpful and friendly hosts, easily accommodating our late arrival. Would stay there again.

Wonderful place to stay and relax. Hosts Trish and Steve were wonderful, and the dinner they prepared was delicious.
They had llamas, sheep, piglets and a resident platypus in their pond. The gardens were lovely as was the accommodation. Thank you we highly recommend your B&B.

Epic!!!!! The best farm stay ever, seriously. Incredible 5 star meals direct from the farm, lovely hosts (like, salt of the earth lovely), super cute animals, king bed that felt like a cloud. No seriously. We made a spontaneous booking and it became one of the highlights of our trip to Tassie. Trish and Steve were amazing and we’ve already planned a return trip. Book there!!! You won’t be disappointed 🤩

I recently stayed at Hamlet Downs Country Accommodation. I really enjoyed my stay. Steve and Trish are super friendly, give great idea's for things to do and promote their local area. Their grounds are beautiful and they grow amazing food that Trish turns into some of the most amazing food my tastebuds have ever experienced. They have animals and water features although Percy the platypus was quite shy to photograph. SunSun was a great little tour guide of the property and accompanied me on walks. The room I was in had everything I needed plus a super comfy bed. Thank you Trish Steve and SunSun for the relaxing holiday. I think I may have put on a little extra weight around the middle from your beautiful menu.

We had such a wonderful stay on the farm, it felt like a home away from home! Trish and Steve were so accomodating and went out of their way to check on me when I was feeling unwell. The farm is beautiful - can’t wait to stay again.

I 100% recommend a stay at Hamlet Downs. Excellent accommodation and rooms were spacious and comfortable. Trish and Steve were amazing hosts and our home cooked 3 course dinner was 5 stars. The farm tour was great and siting by the dam watching for platypus a marvellous pastime 👍

Firstly, I'm not a B&B person. I'm a 4-5 star hotel kind of person. I had been given a recommendation about Hamlet Downs from a friend so I took the opportunity to try it for myself. Well I can now say that, if all B&Bs are run with the same attentiveness, warmth and hospitality that Steve and Trish have, then B&B is for me.
The area is so peaceful and quiet - no noise except for the birds and the wind in the trees. Each morning we sat in our sunroom and enjoyed the yummy breakfast prepared by Trish (though Steve did take the credit for it) with bacon, duck eggs, toast, juice and homemade jam. After that Sonny the dog escorted us around the farm, keeping an eye on us to make sure we didn't get lost - just a shame we didn't get to see the Platypus.
We only enjoyed dinner one night with Steve and Trish as we were there for a friends 50th but what a great night it was. The BBQ spread was so yummy, wish I had packed my extra stomach so I could enjoy it all. We sat around the firepit, drinking and laughing while the night slowly descended.
In my humble opinion, there is no better place in the world to stay and when I am back in Tassie, I will be staying again.

We had a lovely escape to Hamlet Downs! Jenifa was absolutely delightful, dinner was delicious and the beds were amazing. We also went for a beautiful walk by the large ponds while being watched by the friendly alpacas. Oh and a brilliant breakfast to end our stay.

Absolutely the best experience ever. Your host is amazingly lovely, so very kind and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble for Jen. The property is amazing. The meals Jen provides are superb and your little furry visitors are so lovely too. I cannot rate this property or experience high enough.
