The Orient Chinese Restaurant

We visited this store when passing by the area. We were greeted and seated. No prior booking required. We ordered Stirred fried Chic with Ginger sauce, Chicken skewers, Steamed Prawn dumplings, Chicken dumplings, Bean curd soup, Fried chic winglets and Sesame prawn toast. To our surprise, they really served great food for a similar restaurant in the area. The chicken meat is really tender and tasty. The only downside is the soup we ordered in the second order did not taste well but was acceptable. Perhaps it was a rush hour happening at the same time as there were lots of take-away orders. Be prepared in advance if you need your orders get in time. The price is definitely competitive. Cannot complain though 🙂. It was a pleasant dining experience overall.

Im giving it a 5 star so it doesn't effect their rating as they could of just had a bad night. In all honesty I rate the food a 2 star. Fried rice was terrible. The most blandest fried rice with tiny little shrimp that come out of a can. The dumplings were some of the worst dumplings I've had. The smallest I've ever eaten, no effort put in to shape size and taste not great.
The chicken cashew was also terrible. It was mainly celery, watery and tasteless.

Price I would have happily paid more for quality.

I most likely will not suggest this place to family or friends or go back to this place myself.

The best restaurant around. The dishes are always the best. The hostess/chef is very busy but is always nice and helpful with the order. Make sure you order the meat spring rolls, I'm pretty sure she makes them herself. Thank you.

Fantastic food, I’ve been a patron of this restaurant for about 20 years, lovely family who welcome you heartily every time <3 Their sizzling beef is divine & special fried rice a meal of its own! When we moved to Oakleigh I would drive to Caulfield just to get their sweet & sour chicken lol. Sarah & her family are wonderful people who I highly recommend for their commitment to good fresh yummy food :D

Nice chinese if you are looking for something that isn't too upmarket. We went early on a Saturday night (04.06.2022) We were the first ones in there and wondered if this was a decent place. The room soon filled up with patrons . Its basic decor and food is quite well priced. We enjoyed our meal

Very good. We enjoyed the beef special. Plenty of meat and veggies in all dishes and reasonably priced.

Been going to this restaurant since I was born and it is legitimately the best Chinese restaurant I have ever had. Nothing at all compares to this place its a true gem.
