Southern Grace Diner (meat and three) by Big Boy BBQ

My son & I came for a platter & 3 sides, and walked away full, satisfied and thinking about the next time we can come back.
The meat's were beautifully cooked, moist & moresome.
The sides finished off any space that we had left.

From the moment you enter the Southern style diner, you know that you are in for a unique experience and a menu that will fill your tummy and heart. The menu reflects that feeling with smoked meats, fried chicken, mac n cheese, and a few creative dishes that borderline on creative genius and insanity.

The chef’s, Lance and Morgan (and Sunday “casual” Blake), run an open pass while customers are given a view reminiscent of watching a loved one cook in a home kitchen - with a lot more finesse and less secretly sneaking a taste 😅

I’ve never tried a dish here that I haven’t loved and been inspired by. Thank you for the great eats!

Sunday lunch , incredible food , awesome atmosphere and very friendly and accommodating staff

We had the brisket , lamb ribs and sides of mac and cheese , slaw and cornbread

Not one thing on the plate wasn’t perfect , hats off to the team that run this place

The home made peach ice tea was also very good

A great experience will definitely be coming back looking forward to trying the desserts next visit

Incredible food! Struggle good authentic BBQ that is just as much about the sides as it is the meat. No fuss, no frills, just good quality food.

Food that’s easily instagramable, but isn’t made for instagram.

Line out the door but we’re seated within 5 min of opening.

Recommend the platter if you’re in a group as you get a bit of everything. Emphasis on the quality and variety of sides, far more than just your typical slaw, chips & Mac&cheese.

Super helpful staff, don’t scrimp on sauces (which they have a great selection of) and they encourage coming back for more at no additional cost.

Succulent, flavorsome brisket and ribs with super tasty sides and incredible desserts to top it off. Have been in a few times now and always leave full, content and smiling.

I'm an American here in Australia. Love good bbq from all over the States. After having lunch for the first time here at Southern Grace. I can confirm they are doing bbq right down under. It's best and most American style bbq in Australia. Keep up the great work team and we'll be back lots!

While I've eaten at Southern Grace Diner (and Big Boy BBQ) plenty of times in the past, I've never tried the fried chicken. The food is always consistently good, but the fried chicken was next level awesome and a very generous serving too. Moist, crunchy and full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Fantastic concept of Meat and Three, great range of meat and collection of sides. Ordered 1 of everything on the menu for a Father's Day Feast, didn't disappoint. Slow cooked meats that were sublime with a couple of stand out sides of Corn Pudding and Pottliker.

I’m really pleased about the new look. My kids didn’t like the sweet spicy meat from @bigboybbq but we can all enjoy the new Texas style meats at @southergracediner. The brisket was spot-on. The rest of the meat was good and the fixins were guzzled. Welcome back guys!

Update: The team has honed their skills over the last couple of years and the food, especially the brisket, is just amazing. I’ve eaten brisket in 100 different places and this brisket is up there with the best of Austin Texas. I’m now a regular.

Babi guling banh mi was perfect, reminded me of the flavours of Bali but the pork was next level! Pittmaster was a juicy sausage and brisket combo burger, but I should have ordered two! Continued supporter of making my mouth water at bigboybbq. Always made with love and made to order. No pics food eaten too fast!

Best BBQ in Melbourne. Very friendly service. Very good portion sizes. Good value for money. A must stop on the Melbourne food scene.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed Southern Grace - we are there almost every weekend. The food is dynamite - always incredible quality produce, with creative preparation. The brisket is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. The Kansas City style ribs are as good as any of the best you’d find in Kansas. The menu changes every week and there are always too many good options and not enough stomach space. Desserts are always delicious and worth saving room for. Absolutely recommend.

Went in on Sunday for the first time since they were in the city, was thrilled to find that Big Boy BBQ could get even better. Everything we ordered was incredible and though we had no plans to order dessert, one sample of the peanut butter cream pie and it was an immediate add to our order which we took to the nearest park for an amazing feast. Thanks guys, will be back soon.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food is superb. The meat is melt in your mouth tender, a wide variety of sides to cut through all the meat and finish it off with a delicious slice of pie.

We travel 40 minutes from home to get here, and they never disappoint. Outstanding food and customer service. We love it here.

Went to Southern Grace Diner for Lunch today and by far the best BBQ I have ever had. The meat and three is amazing. We did to orders each with different items so that my wife and I could share and it was all amazing. The service was fantastic and Lance really knows what he is doing. My head and my stomach was at odds as because the food is so great I wanted to just keep eating but my stomach was so full. But to Solve that I am able to take home what I couldn't finish. This place is amazing and so worth it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants real American BBQ.
